haha...David Shuster ripping Clinton advisor right now on MSNBC |
|
Edited on Tue May-27-08 03:46 PM by ErinBerin84
Anyone watching? He is saying "Name ONE media person who said Hillary Clinton should quit?" The advisor avoided the question, and he asked again really loudly "Name ONE PERSON IN THE MEDIA who said that she should quit?" The advisor kept sidestepping and turned it into a generalization of the media. When David Shuster said thank you to her, he added "Actually, Maria. The fact is that no one person that you can point to has asked Hillary Clinton to get out of the race. There is a difference between saying that the math does not favor a candidate and "trying to push a candidate out of the race".
edit: It was with Clinton advisor Maria Cardona. It didn't come off as Shuster was bullying her or anything, she did not handle the questions well at all. And Maria Cardona always interrupts (she did this the other day repeatedly on Dan Abrams when Dan would specifically ask other panelists a question, it was annoying) and comes off as very rude herself, so I have little sympathy for her. She just does not master the spin well. The campaign should have hired Dee Dee Myers (former Clinton staffer) to work on the campaign, she is a Hillary supporer who always frames the debate in reasonable ways that are favorable to Hillary, but comes off as so much more genuine. I'd like to read her book, has anyone read it yet?
second edit: Shuster just shot down a Republican who tried to launch a ridiculous talking point again Obama's advisors just now and corrected her spin. When she shot back something at him, he said again "actually, no, that's not true because, etc" I've honestly always assumed that Shuster was a Republican deep down, what does everyone else think? And everyone, yes, please feel free to say "Shuster is in the tank for Obama", if that's what you think. I'd like everyones opinion. We all know Shuster's history with the Clinton campaign, so I am not saying that he is an entirely unbiased source obviously. He probably relishes the chance to ask the campaign advisors questions that he knows he probably won't get an answer to.

on edit,
Bill should give some thought to the following folks:
Mike Gravel Dennis Kucinich Chris Todd Ron Paul
Agree with them or not, EACH ONE was treated with far more insulting commentary, poor treatment, ignoring their positions, laughing at their physical attributes, attacking them as inconsequential, and worse, than Team Hillary ever received. To deny this is to show just how limited your acquaintance with truth and honesty is. But that seems to be the standard fare from Team HILLARY!, these days at least.

|
Jonathan said it on Olbermann couple of months ago, and Richardson said it on CNN. The general commentary about Hillary is NEGATIVE, and often insinuates that she should get out. Who can deny that? Shuster must be feeling guilty about his completely unprofessional comments that cost him a couple of weeks off the air.

Alter has been saying for weeks that the numbers simply doesn't favor Hillary. So has Chuck Tood, and just about anyone who's looking past how great this slugfest has been for ratings. I don't remember Alter actually saying the words "Hillary should get out," though. I DO remember him saying "this campaign is over" on Olbermann on Friday evening. Not the same thing, really. But, if you can provide a link to him actually telling Hillary to get out I'll be happy to concede the point.
Now, if you're talking about Bill Richardson, he's not a member of the media, so that really doesn't answer the question, does it?
Of course, none of this addresses the point that if it was Obama who'd taken 12 straight losses, and was behind in every possible reasonable metric, he would have been laughed out of this race some time ago. But Hillary's last name is Clinton, and she has a vagina, so she gets to stick around as long as she wants to. Party and country be damned. :eyes:
One thing for which I give the Clintons credit: They have that "playing the victim" thing down pat.

You know, the "most disrepectful coverage ever"...
THe closest a major figure has come was Timmy declaring it over after NC. And there was no push for her to leave or call to get out, there was a simple statement of fact that by all mathmatical considerations the race was over.
Which it was. And it is.

when sitting with your honey, in front of a dying fire, with beautiful red and black embers, a totally black sky dotted with thousands of stars, can be wonderful, peaceful and profound.

In fact, I think she was introduced on Dan Abrams a couple of weeks ago as a Hillary supporter as well. Yet, she always presents the argument in a really reasonable way that keeps me listening. And even though her book is called "Why women Should Rule the World", she was very careful to specify that she doesn't mean that "women should rule the world and men shouldn't", but that the political process would benefit from more female politicians at higher level positions.
