Why my heart is with Barack Obama....
Look at the photos taken at Obama rallies....

Not the photos of Barack or Michelle (although I must say they are a handsome couple)...

Look at the close ups of the people who have come hear him and see him.

It's what they bring with them, and what they exude...

I see such unmitigated joy and hope radiating from the individuals..

The optimism on the faces of young and old,

the innocent promise present on the faces of African Americans,

the sense of 'family' on all present. This is what our country is supposed to embody,

the promise that lies within each of us, and how the promise can be fulfilled.

I've been around for, oh, say.. almost 60 years, but I've never seen anything like this.

Political campaigns come and go; exhuberant supporters are expected,

but the knowledge that these supporters are part of history makes me emotional.

I never thought, in my lifetime, that I'd see this happen...

For all things that brought us all to this point, I offer thanks....

2. Woo-hoo! I feel the same way. I've gotten the chills from watching the faces
of people at these rallies, filled with hope and excitement, actually looking forward to
the possibility of a better world.

It can and will happen.
It has to.

3. Yours is one of the few post that make me feel proud for my country today.....
on the DU.

and uplifting and supporting post as to why you support a polical candidacy.

I too am in wonderment when I look at the faces of those who have hope that America can be what it says that it is.

Thank you.

10. Hey Frenchie!
I try not to get bogged down with all the pettiness...

We are blessed because we have had wonderful candidates (really and truly!),
But the historical element cannot be doubted!

It's about time, wouldn't you say?

the things in your post that do give these people (at these rallies) the hope that we can be a unified great country once again.

9. Thanks for this wonderful post about a wonderful candidate!
I agree with you. Just seeing how Obama has united SO many people in BELIEVING again that this country can be a beacon of hope for the world.
It's a powerful thing. :bounce:

12. That is why he will not only win, but change the course of this country.
I wish.... I wish... Hillary supporters could see this. There is sooooooo much to like about Obama and the sense of hope and change in the air.

Sure, I don't agree with all of his policy positions. He is too conservative for me. But I have a strong sense that he is going to inspire us all to work beyond ourselves and renew the promise of this country.

He breaks through my GenX cynicism.

15. I think that much of his inspiration will be to get us out of this stupid war...
Edited on Tue May-27-08 06:31 PM by LakeSamish706
first and foremost. When he turns his sights on cutting out tax breaks to big corporations who don't need them, we will know we are well on our way to a gradual recovery.

16. I am hoping for more of a JFK, "Ask not what your country can do..." moment.
I don't trust Washington to get us out of this war our fix the Corporations. But Obama might get people off their ass and into their neighborhoods.
