Staunch Clinton and Obama supporters: admission time, time for honesty.
First, we'll just assume you're voting for the democratic nominee (why else would you be at DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND?). If the "other" candidate gets the nomination and then loses, how many of you are willing to admit to a bit of schadenfreude? How many of you are willing to admit a small case of "I-told-you-so?" How many of you have already begun crafting this delicious post (even if only in your mind?).

Any takers?

Or am I misreading the sharp elbows and vitriol here as something more than simply "rough" politics as usual (I don't think that I am)? I sense real dislike (the core of schadenfreude). Some here take this stuff very seriously.

I think one camp here will particularly enjoy (though not hope for or encourage) the defeat of the other candidate.

I won't feel any joy in a democratic loss. Nor will I savor taunting my temporary "opponents"--those who support the "other" candidate but who are really my brothers- and sisters-in-arms.

1. well im not sure where to go with that
Perhaps if Obama was fantasizing about Hillary assassination to make things easier for him I would have some context.

2. Nope, my original candidate didn't win. Why would I try to destroy someone elses?
I would be pissed as hell if Hillary won, but I would suck it up and carry on, because McCain must be defeated. I am tired of having to have a veto proof majority...

And I don't want to talk about the Supreme Court...

3. It wasn't a question of "destroying" the other candidate.
It was a question of experiencing a bit of joy at the expense of someone else's loss (be it Obama or Clinton supporters).

I'm just curious as to the level of honesty here. My perception: there are MANY here (from both sides) who will take great joy in seeing the other side lose--though I doubt very much that true Duers would ever do anything to impede a victory of a democratic candidate.

4. I assume some will feel that way, but the stakes are way to high on this one.

8. Probably I'm one of many who knows

that I've been through it before, that fewer than 1/2 of the Dem. nominees I have voted for have become president, and that the sun will come out tomorrow. There will be no such posts from here.

My private thoughts would be along the lines of, "Well, your political instincts were right this time -- damn it all."

9. We will have victory in November.
White House, The House of Reps, Senate. Democratic gains across the board.

Failure, as they say, is not an option.

12. I might think it, but I'd never say anything about it.
I just don't want people to think I'm a dick.
