Obama's family.
Edited on Wed May-28-08 07:54 PM by Drunken Irishman
Since it appears many question his ancestral roots, let's meet Barack Obama's family.

This is Barack Obama, he's running for the Presidency of the United States. He's also the junior senator from the great state of Illinois.

Barack Obama was born August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This is Hawaii:

Obama's mom, Ann Dunham:

She was born November 29, 1942 in Kansas, she died in November of 1994.

This is Kansas:

Famous for:

Not sure if she's related to Ann, however.

Obama's father, Barack Obama Senior:

He was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1936 and died in 1982.

Obama's paternal grandparents are Hussein Onyango and Sarah Obama -- who is actually his step-grandmother.

This is his wonderful grandmother.

Obama's maternal grandparents are Madelyn Payne and Stanley Dunham. Stanley passed away in 1992.

Madelyn still lives in the small high-rise in which Obama was raised, where she is an avid bridge player and watches Obama on CNN every day.

The Dunhams helped raise Obama in Hawaii while he went to school from the age of 10 until he left in his late teens. Madelyn helped nurse Obama's mother, Ann, while she was dying from cancer back in Hawaii. Stanley Dunham is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Obama's paternal step-grandmother is still alive and well, living in Kenya.

Some facts:

Madelyn Payne grew up in a strict Methodist household in Peru, Kansas. She, however, had a bit of rebellion in her, as she often left town for Wichita, Kansas to hear the Big Bands, much to her parents dismay. There she met a furniture salesman by the name of Stanley Armour Dunham. He came from a Baptist family. Stanley's job relocated him to Hawaii, where Ann Dunham attended the University of Hawaii. There she met Barack's father.

Barack Obama, Sr. was raised Muslim by his father Hussein Onyango, who converted to Muslim from Christianity. However, Barack Senior left Islam by the time he came to the United States.

Sarah Obama, his paternal step-grandmother, is a Christian, who follows the 2008 Presidential campaign very closely. Obama refers to her as Mama Sarah.

And that is the Obama family.

3. Very good.
However, I still need to know more about the Wizard of Oz's great uncle's cousin's mother's sister's neighbor's friend's son. Was he a Muslim? It would help me debate others who say I shouldn't vote for Obama for this very reason. I'm very concerned.

6. Nice work. I just wish it included the photo of his grandfather in Army uniform.
It really shows off where the chin and the ears came from.

7. I love this line:
"Madelyn still lives in the small high-rise in which Obama was raised, where she is an avid bridge player and watches Obama on CNN every day."

Imagine the overwhelming sense of pride she must be feeling. That line actually put a bit of a lump in my throat.

Great post.
