Why does Obama believe he'll be the presumptive nominee next week? What does he know? |
|
Edited on Thu May-29-08 07:40 AM by cali
Why do so many insiders believe that as well? From Ed Rendell to Simon Rosenberg, insiders have been saying they expect Obama to clinch it within the next week. What do they know?
They know Obama has the SD support to make him the presumptive nominee. They know that the result of the RBC meeting on Saturday can't change the inevitability of that.
I don't know what Hillary Clinton will do when Obama becomes the presumptiv4e nominee. For a long time I believed she'd recognize the reality of her situation and concede the nomination when Obama became the presumptive nominee. Now, I'm not so sure.
I don't know what Skinner will do when that happens either. From his post, I gather that GD-P will operate by its current rules until she drops out. That's certainly his decision to make.
But whatever happens, when Obama is the presumptive nominee, he becomes the de facto leader of the party.

4. Obama believes he will be the nominee because he can add and subtract |
|
And because he understands the rules. The Clinton campaign is in need of remedial math and reading classes, since their math and understanding of the rules have no connection to reality.

5. Ummm, since he's ahead in delegate count isn't he already the "presumptive nominee"? |
|
and after attaining 2021 he will then be the "nominee"

7. no. he's the presumptive nominee once he gets the requisite |
|
number of delegates, be that 2026 or 2117 or whatever. He only becomes the nominee after delegates officially cast their votes in Denver.

Before the delegates cast their vote at the convention one is the presumptive nominee (including McCain at this point) after they cast their votes the person with the most is the nominee. McCain is called the "nominee" now because something short of an earthquake will make him the nominee, he has the prescribed number of delegates to be his party's nominee. Everyone except Hillary and her supporters knows she does not and will not have the numbers there to support her, therefore Obama is the presumptive nominee until the convention where he become the nominee. Please, please Clinton supporters check your facts and the laws governing the primary and general election, also check each state because they differ from state to state and the state rules in this instance. Hillary is finished for this election and staying in has no value for her except to take down the democratic party and make sure McCain is the winner of the GE.
What I want to know, if Ms. Clinton is so concerned about every citizen's right to vote, where was she in 2000, 2002 and 2004. There wasn't a peep from her then. What was she thinking when she signed off on these rules, did she not concern herself with their potential loss of vote when she signed her name to these rules and said she would abide by them. The hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton is so exhausting and I am a woman, Hillary's and a feminist, she does not in any way speak for me, I believe she has put the cause for women and equality back at least 20 years.

Omar Kayam's "moving finger" is in action and there is nothing Hillary can do to change any of it no matter how much she flails and squirms.
