Dear Senator Clinton: Take your time |
|
to concede- as long as you do it by Friday. You ran a spirited campaign, yadda, yadda, yadda, but Barack Obama is now the presumptive nominee. He's been embraced as such by the party leadership. He's got the delegates needed. And we need to move on to the general.
And when you make your concession speech? Make it gracious. Back our nominee in no uncertain terms. Say you'll campaign your heart out for him.
This is no longer about you, Senator Clinton. Yes, we know you believe you're the better candidate, but now is the time to become a team player, to put party and country ahead of your own ambitions.
Get on board, Senator Clinton. You don't really have any other choice if you want a future in politics.
Sincerely,
A life long democrat

5. The problem is, after throwing down the gauntlet last night, |
|
by basically saying that she controls 17 million votes and needs to get what she wants (veep) before making any decisions, it appears as extortion. So if Obama chooses her now he looks weak, as having capitulated to her threats. She has done the complete opposite of what she intended and has now made it impossible for Obama to choose her as his veep.
To make up for it, if she does concede, she has to issue a statement of unconditional surrender, recognizing Obama not only as the nominee, but as head of the party and the person who calls all the shots. I think that would be too humiliating for her and think it will never happen.

7. She is trying to strong arm her way into the White House! |
|
She makes a threat using her supporters, pretty much holding them for ransom. All to get the vice presidency position, running under someone that she feel she is superior to.
I was once a huge fan of the Clintons! But, as this primary inched closer and closer to the finish line, I have seen another side of the "Clinton Machine" and I have been turned off by it.

6. I'm convinced she'll do all you request. |
|
I'm convinced of it.
Hey...sorry to seem like I'm defending her, and flame away and all of that, but goddamned it, this has to be a tough time for her. She knows she's lost. Hell, she's a smart woman.
But this has to be tough for her right now. And especially tough for her supporters.
She'll ultimately do the right thing and concede and be gracious about it. And she will enthusiastically campaign for this ticket.

I give her the rest of the week, but by Friday, she needs to at the very least suspend and endorse Obama. An outright concession would be proper of course and should be done.

9. I am positive you will see that in the next few days |
|
Her speech led me to believe that she will announce soon, with Obama there, with her introducing him. This would be the best way for the party to bring the two sides back together. A show of unity and leadership from the top two.

She had months to drop out. I see no sense to offer her more time now.

If I concede too quickly, it will stop being about ME, ALL ME, ALL THE TIME.
I can't allow that to happen, you dolt.
