How will women fare under a McCain Presidency?
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 11:58 AM by nomad1776
I think it's important for all the "I will never vote for Obama" crowd to fully appreciate this.

1) You better be careful about having sex. If you birth control fails, or you make a mistake, there will be no more chance to terminate. What you can do with your body, will be decided by the US government.

2) The end of sexual harassment lawsuits and laws. The "good old days" when a man could say and do what he wanted, in the work place, will return. The bush/mcsame Supreme Court will greatly curtail any lawsuits in this area.

3) The US government will provide no protection from gender discrimination. mcSame will follow george bush's lead and pack the judge and federal prosecutor's offices with hard core right wingers that think a woman's place is in the home, bare foot and pregnant.

4) Lesbians can count on the US government's fight to prevent them from achieving basic rights.

5) The glass ceiling will get lower and stronger, as there will be little incentive for corporations to do the right thing

Just consider that, before voting for mcsame or not voting for Obama. This will be the life you will leave and the world you will leave for your children and grandchildren.

2. It'll be OK to call your wife a "cunt" in public.
A wonderful example of a chivalrous gentleman, he is. Quite gallant.

5. If McCain becomes President I'd have to get a sex change.
I fear he'd send us right back to the kitchen, barefoot, and infested with parasites. I can't have someone like that as President.

The whole anti abortion, and I'm pro-choice freaks me out. I so don't want people having to get dirty hangers and hoping for the best. Women in any area of dominance is going to be elminated. I'll leave the country if he becomes president. I'll just leave.

I would feel there's nothing left here for progressive people and if this is the final nail on the coffin of what would be America's demise, I'm not captain I'm not going down with the ship. I would also be thoroughly disappointed in the American people and cry tears of shame. He scares me to death. When I see him, I worry over the future. This war, his treatement of women, and the like freak me out.

7. How True This Is
Any Hillary supporter who would vote for McCain (or against Obama) is doing a great dishonor to Hillary Clinton and everything she has worked for over the past thirty-five years.

Frustration, anger, disappointment, etc at Obama getting the nomination instead of Hillary are understandable. But anyone who does not help Obama get elected has no business calling themselves a feminist.

Pardon the cliche, it would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

8. Under McCain, if you're lucky enough to have health insurance
through your employer, you can kiss it goodbye. He'll be letting employers off the hook and giving you a $5,000 tax credit (to put against a $12,000 policy). You can take a number and get in line behind me and my 47 million uninsured friends.

9. Health Insurance Will Be For The Healthy
If you have a preexisting condition, you are on your own.

McCain wouldn't be able to get health insurance under McCain's plan.

12. Things will change, because of the situation the Supreme Court is in
At least 2 liberal justices will be leaving, over the next 4 years.

18. You missed that the Family & Medical Leave Act will be disemboweled, so you could end up pregnant
and with no maternity leave.

Also, regarding #1 - no need to worry about bc failing if you no longer have access to contraceptives from the get-go!

19. You are right, I did miss those two very important points
Contraceptives will have long since been outlawed, and women will simply be fired when they need to go on maternity leave.
