Barbara Boxer SWITCHES to Obama
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 03:48 PM by IWantAnyDem
Obama now has 2184 delegates to Hillary Clinton's 1920.

This is now getting huge because Hillary Clinton's numbers can go nowhere else but down. This is driving her to political irrelevency.

Every super delegate the switches from here on out dwindles her total political capital.

17. Glad to see my Governor on the list today!
Phil Bredesen has been a good governor for this state. Sure, he's a little more to the right than I would like, but he's been an effective manager of the state and a good reintroduction of the state to the Democratic party after years of horrific Republican management.

63. I'm not so sure he would pick a Republican. I think Maria and RFK, Jr. would guide him.
The governor does not have to pick a Republican. He might surprise everyone and pick his old friend Warren Beatty. I'm serious. They get along really well.

Beatty now teases Arnold, "I always told you that you should become a Democrat, and look...you did!"

A deal could be reached. I think Arnold would love to see a Californian on the Democratic ticket.

Group of neutral senators throw support behind Obama
By Klaus Marre
Posted: 06/04/08 04:14 PM
Eight previously uncommitted Democratic senators on Wednesday announced that they would back Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), their party’s presumptive nominee.

“As senators who remained neutral in this contest, we are proud of Sens. Obama and for breaking down barriers that some believed were unbreakable and for inspiring millions in our country to participate in our political process, many for the first time,” said Sens. Barbara Boxer (Calif.), Ben Cardin (Md.), Tom Carper (Del.), Tom Harkin (Iowa), Mary Landrieu (La.), Frank Lautenberg (N.J.), Ken Salazar (Colo.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.) in a joint statement.

The superdelegates must make it clear that they will go with the person who has gone over the top with delegates now that voting has ended. Between Rahm Emmanuel and Barbara Boxer - that's a great start.

...she simply said she would vote for her as a SD in response to California's wishes -- a bit of an important distinction and why it is so big. She must not be happy with Clinton to have gone against the wishes of us Californians.

42. Boxer can take cover
from polls showing disaffection with Clinton. As of a month ago, Californians would opt for Obama in a do-over. Hillary's negatives passed 50% around then and are encroaching into McCain territory.

It's a bit sleazy, but what the hell, it's what Hillary would do. Will of the people, right?

53. The polling has shown that a lot of Californians have buyers remorse on Clinton
and if the vote were held later, it would have gone for Obama. So she's really not "going against the wishes of us Californians" so much as being responsive to the evolving tastes of her constituency.

Because given the Clintons' vindictiveness, I would think future family potlucks won't go as well as they would say, for Maria and Arnold (at least their mixed party marriage doesn't seem to face the same family ire as I'd imagine with that Clinton bunch).

57. Actually, this endorsement won't make an iota of difference...
as far as Hillary's status as a power player in the Dem party.

If she'd been forced to drop out early on in the primary season...yes, your statements would be true. She would be marginalized to a degree, but considering she's still a senator from a state like New York, Hillary Clinton is a major player and will be for some time to come.

Any switches have nothing to do with her political capital.

It has to do with Barack Obama's political capital. His is growing by leaps and bounds, but don't overly marginalize her. People have underestimated her before.
