Should "rec this thread if..." posts be outlawed?

Nothing is stopping you from just not recommending it. Just don't. I think what would be better though is a poll, because essentially that's what it is. It is a poll in which only one side can really vote. However, if you say "No, you're not allowed to post threads like this" that sort of takes away the ability to post your thoughts and have others agree or disagree.
