Obama gave a truly great speech last night
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 08:33 PM by ruggerson
I'm actually excited to both work for him and cast my ballot in November.

There is no way, when compared with McCain, head to head, that he won't win by a large margin in November. The stars are aligned for a Democratic win, and he is the most talented natural politician to come along in a long time.

I've had reservations about some of his strategic choices in the campaign and about some of his positions on issues I care about. But, those reservations vanish when compared to the Republicans. Frankly, both he and Hillary played hardball, they both used wedge issues, he was just more talented and more adept at it and stayed one step ahead of her.

She grew as a campaigner in the last few months of the race. It was a hard fought battle between them, and I think historians will be slicing and dicing it for many moons to come.

On DU, there were some very graceful Obama supporters who emulated their candidate and refrained, for the most part, from tearing Hillary down personally and demeaning her supporters with epithets. You guys know who you are and you are a credit to the primary race Obama ran.

Here's to victory in the fall.

The Democratic train is coming!

4. He does have a certain something.
I admit to not being a big fan, but that has a lot to do with my inherent cynicism as much as it does him. While I like to be cautious, I think McCain and Repubs are in big, big trouble this year. And even better, I think they know it.

8. It took me awhile
to warm up to Obama, even though I started donating to him after NC, but last night really pushed me over the top. He is so exciting and I know is is going to be a Great President. I have never been this excited about any candidate, and I was pretty excited when Clinton won.

9. Indeed. John McCain is swiss cheese, without the daring flavor bursts.
Hint: I don't consider Swiss cheese all that exciting to begin with.

Thanks for the positive support Ruggerson.

11. It is rare to say "that was a thrilling speech".
That was a thrilling, an electrifying speech. It gave me a sense of hope and belonging I have not felt in 40 years, since a late spring night when the third of three stunning assassinations ended my political naivety.
