Kerry opposes moving troops from Germany and England? |

Why? The Cold War is over?
I do agree with bringing them home or doing serious peacekeeping with the UN.
The EU can defend itself pretty well now.

6. Are you talking about what Kerry thinks or what Holbrooke thinks? |
|

Make up your mind.
No, Holbrooke is not a Kerry campaign spokesman.
By the way, did you accurately characterize Holbrooke's remarks? What did he actually say? Link, please.

...and I was a little suprised. I think this could have been handled better.
On the face of it Bushes pullback does make sense (at least from Europe)

It is a question of timing. Right now our standing in the world is weak so what do we do? Run away, withdraw in disarray, not as part of some coherent plan that acts to recognize new facts and realities. No we need those troops to fight our pres. pet wars, he needs those soldiers to invade Iran or wherever is next on his list. Plus, it'll teach those pesky French and Germans. We don't need or care about you anymore.

Should troops be removed from Germany? Yes. Does it need to be done now, in an election Bush will probably lose? The scary thing is he may actually be invading Iran. Is he even bringing the troops home? Or is he moving them to Turkey, Iraq?

It is the appears of weakness that worries me. Combine this with the total disregard for internationalism the administration has demonstrated repeatedly it looks like we are on path to total disengagement from the world.
