Should Obama be at Hillary's endorsement of him? |
|
Respectful discussion is welcomed. On one hand, it seems to be almost protocol for the candidate to appear at high-profile endorsements. Also, these endorsements seem to have a much greater effect if the candidate is there with them, e.g. the Edwards endorsement. On the other hand, it's debatable as to whether or not some of Hillary's most ardent supporters will be ready for a joint appearance here on Saturday. Also, it would fuel even more speculation and parsing of their words to ponder about the V.P. question. Thoughts/comments? :patriot:

2. Endorsements from other Dems should be a given from here on, right? |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 02:02 PM by JoeIsOneOfUs
Other endorsements were when the primary was still happening, to sway remaining Democratic voters and superdelegates.
Edit to add - so I don't think they have to be in person right now. If I were Obama I wouldn't want to stand in front of her most ardent angry supporters on live TV right now.

This is her farewell ceremony. It's a production and I doubt he'd get much out of it. She should join him someplace on the road very shortly.

|
If he was there Hillary's more vocal supporters would take that to show she was somehow being "forced" to quit by pressure from "that man" when she still had a chance to take it to Denver.

But it's just as well, because Obama is hosting a sleepover for eight 7-year olds this Saturday. "They should call them wake overs."

A joint event would be a great way to bridge the gap. Having them at the event together would slow the whispering that they don't really like each other.

15. Her sig line is a mirror image of Michelle Obama's comments about Hillary. |
|
ROBERTS: So what if Senator Clinton defeats her husband, becoming the first woman nominee. Could you see yourself working to support the first woman nomination?
OBAMA: I'd have to think about that. I'd have to think about that, her policies, her approach, her tone.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/04/michelle-obama-ill-thi_n_84900.htmlI bet very few Obama supporters recognize that.

Now that we have a nominee does this poster still have to think about supporting Obama? If so, then there are other sites they can post on.

All that's really necessary, in the end, is the vote. I think said poster is in Arizona. May not make much difference there.

27. Ferraro is being a distraction to the party |
|
Other Dems are living in fear that FOX News might convince her to do another sit-down interview. No doubt they'll be offering her lots of free time to air her opinions in October. Ferraro needs to get her head straight now and stop trying to tank the Dem chances in November.

Do you SUGGEST that John McCain could fairly 'mirror' the misgivings someone might have about HIM and validly(??) express them at Obama??
Such mindless 'mirror' quotations are not even sophomoric. They're infantile. They're kids in the back seat crap.
One of the most brain-damaged examples is the idiotic Reich-wing claim that Nazis were 'socialists' just like the Democrats. It's people mouthing absurdities.

He had already suspended his campaign in a solo, public announcement. Hillary hasn't done that yet. So this is a little different.

17. The NYTimes reported that Obama wasn't invited... |
|
I suppose this isn't a standard-fare endorsement--given the major battle between Obama and Clinton.
Clinton is using this event to celebrate her successes in the campaign and to endorse Obama--as a bridge from the campaign to the future.
It seems appropriate that he's not there--because that is how she has chose to do things.
I think Hillary's trying to do this in stages for her supporters--and for herself as well.
