I just got back from Minnesota--Obama's Speech in St. Paul Changed My Life! |
|
I just got back from visiting Minnesota with a friend.
I got to see Senator Obama's speech in St. Paul claiming the nomination, and I have to tell you--it changed my life and gave me a lot of direction in what I want to do. I didn't plan to attend the event, hell I didn't even know he was coming to Minnesota. Fate brought me to the land of 10,000 lakes that night. Me and my friend took a week off from work to visit her family in Minnesota and hit Minneapolis because I've never been, and I wanted to visit the Mall of America and everything else. I heard on the local news that Obama was coming to St. Paul to the same arena, the Xcel Energy Center, where McCain would be nominated. I knew this was the beginning of the General Election.
And then it happened. He clinched the nomination. Hearing him that night, I had hope. More hope than I've ever had. Hope like Americans felt in 1960 with John F. Kennedy. Hope like Americans felt in 1968 with Bobby Kennedy. Hope like in 1992 with Bill Clinton. And in that, I saw my calling. I was always told by those who heard my major I'm going to school for that it was a bad field. Political Science! It was always a passion of mine, but I came to the reality that the money wasn't there. So lately I've been looking at Marketing. But when I saw Senator Obama speak, I knew that money wasn't going to make me happy. The hope he gave me, gave me the dedication and determination to follow the path that will make me happy. And so what if I obtain fame or wealth, I will be happy changing the world in any small way I can as one American with one big heart who cares deeply about what happens to this country and this world. And believes we can all come together and work just a little bit harder to improve the lives of not only our brothers, but of future generations.
I want to thank Senator Clinton for gracefully backing out. That means a lot, we have to win this election. And I'm confident now more than ever that our party made a wise choice in Senator Obama!

6. I'm so glad you were there with me. It was amazing. |

A story I will continue to tell in years to come. It was great to be there, but the personal impact is what made it special. I too will be working to do what I can to make my own little difference in this world.

13. It is so exciting to hear that |

I know you've been skeptical, but I think a lot of people will have the same experience you did. I think he really wants to change things, and I think the proof of that is in the way he quickly moved to have the DNC reject lobbyist and PAC money. And since the odds of getting rich are so slim anyway, you may as well do something that makes you happy and proud.
