Just for today...could we not get into the "Hillary is evil" stuff? Just for today...when she's officially leaving? This is a sad day for the Hillary supporters on DU.

Just for today? Out of respect?

Thanks. Flame away and all of that.

24. I share it too
and expect that it will be heeded by those Obama supporters who usually make an effort to be civil. (even if we don't always succeed.)

However, there are trolls and children on both sides.

3. I hear you, but I doubt the trolls will respect your grief.
Because trolls and their suckers are the only ones who have pushed "(candidate) is evil" stuff around here.

6. No flame - fine idea - but the problem does not seem to
manifest itself on GDP sorted by time of post. On the first page I see no headlines that could be construed asw "Hillary is evil". There are a few headlines complaining about the behavior of Clinton supporters, but the vast majority of OPs here are about Obama.

she has never deserved what's been thrown at her here. The most vicious lies and smears were daily fodder for the haters here. It's time for you jerks to give it up.

8. As a longtime ardent Obama supporter, I say AMEN! Actually board already much less nasty ...
but LESS nasty isn't necessarily all the way to "appropriately respectful".

Winning over the HRC supporters is a central concern to those who urgently want to see Obama win in the GE. And it isn't just a matter of whether people will vote for Obama, but how strongly they will support -- including the effect the latter has socially, on those one knows.

The latter is one of the reasons I feel very strongly that, although I am OPPOSED to nominating HRC for VP (but will strongly support the ticket no matter what), Obama should pick a woman, and hopefully feel some sense of popular desire expressed for a woman and for someone who never supported the Iraq War Resolution. It seems that the general political climate of the punditocracy, to the extent that it has ANY influence, tends toward the most rightward possible pick of VP w/in the framework of a Democratic nominee.

I also acknowledge that, importantly, HRC has disavowed any pressures to put her on the ticket, and has acceded to what seems to me to be a perfectly timely concession and lining up behind Obama -- both of which points fly in the face of much of what has been said on DU lately. I myself had been worried about efforts to muscle her way on to the ticket, but she has seen that this would be an unwise approach.

If the Democrats are at least as unified in Nov as was the case in 2000 and 2004, I think we'll be able to win this one -- and I do NOT consider Gore in 2000 or Kerry in 2004 to exactly be model presidential campaigns!

13. Sure, no problem
I've got nothing bad to say about Hillary today.

Unless she pulls a fast one in this speech. And I don't see the point in doing so.

We can still bash Terry McUseless though, right?

Unfortunately, there are some die-hard supporters on both sides that will never let it go. Fortunately, they only have until noon Weds. on DU to get it out of there systems.

26. Exactly,and they are doing the same for Obama,,
they are doing what they have been doing all through the campaign. They told everyone how everything was going to go as though we were going through the campaign for practice.

Once Obama began to win they began taking sides and channeling their own ideas about how each campaign should run and what the next move should be.

Now they are telling us what Hillary should say in this speech and telling Obama who he needs to pander to in the General election as though they don't know what is best for the campaign.

I've been very angry with her, but I do appreciate her concession today - it's very difficult for her, but yes, I do appreciate it.

And I'm ready for Democratic unity and for moving to win in November.

33. How is it a sad day?
She gave a great, strong speech, she's still going to be a Senate powerhouse, assuming she doesn't get the VP slot...

But I agree. We should avoid the Hillary-bashing today... for those reasons, if no others.
