Who among those posting here will be voting for the first time...
in a Presidential election?

Do we have lots of people here who are under 22? Under 25 who woke up after 2004?

Or are most of the posters here older Democrats who have mostly if not always voted for Democrats?

I'm just curious. I seem to think, as a new poster here who has read posts for a few days, that most people are older than 30 yrs of age.

Your response? I particularly want to read responses from the newer younger voters, but all are welcome.

I also would love to read responses from Hillary folks who will, or will NOT vote for Obama.

12. I hate standing in lines.
When I got out of the service, I decided nothing was worth standing in line for. So I simply don't do it. Not for concerts, not for movies, not for anything. I also despise waiting lists in restaurants. If I cannot make a reservation, I won't go.

I also don't want to get picked for bs Jury Duty.

But, damn, I hated GHWB.

I hate the kid, too (see my sig line).

18. I did not become invested in following political
maneuverings until we went to war in the Gulf (1990). My dad was a Ph.D of Poli Sci, and it was nice to be a beach bum in Santa Cruz during the 80's (my 20's) and remove myself from that inundation. Since then, I have become a junkie and feel extremely passionate about exercising the freedom we do have to bring about change. These last 8 years have been a severe test.

22. In my state, you can be selected for juries even if you are not
registered to vote. So voting makes no difference, juries are juries, voting is voting, not the same.

9. Clinton/Bush 92 was sort of like this year
When Republicans were ALSO out of touch, and America could do better.

This year is like that year, but 10 times more important, in my opinion.

11.  In the next few years there are going to be critical tipping points
Edited on Sun Jun-08-08 08:12 PM by BushDespiser12
that decide the fate of this planet. McCain is NOT the one capable of weighing the data and finding a reasonable decision/outcome.

This election is a MAJOR event in the world's history.

7. No I am "old" too!!!
I first voted for Humphrey, although I was really a McCarthy supporter before that.

I think there are a lot of Dem voters who are like I was then, early 20's, but NOW they have their "McCarthy" as the nominee......a beautiful day in America, a real idealist, a great and wise liberal, and a true leader uniter. I am proud to be a Dem in 2008 because the Dem party followed the rules, selected a person of character and wisdom, and someone with a great funny name.

8. Sigh
I wish - I am crossing over to the dark side of 30 at midnight tonight so this will not be my first election. Bill Clinton was my first vote but I didn't really get into politics until Gore got shafted.

I wish I could be 22 ago so I could drop everything and go work for Obama. I still plan on helping but I'm a little more tied down than I used to be. :)

Unfortunately, he turned 18 a month too late (to the day) to vote for Obama in the PA primary, but he will be voting for him in the general.

27. I think it had to do with my parents. They never voted and we never discussed politics.
I registered when someone knocked at my door and asked me to. I initially registered Democrat because I believe in unions. However, my three children were all registered at 18, They always know the issues and they always vote.

25. I'm 44, female, Obama supporter since Iowa primary, voted for him in primary in Indiana.
I've voted in every presidential race since 1982. The older I get, the more important it seems to get! I've voted for a Dem president every time except for the time Perot was running?? At that time, I wrote in Nader. I'll never do THAT again!

I am similar to Hillary, in my whole life I only can remember 3 Dem presidential terms--Carter & Clinton! I'm similar to Obama because we were around to feel the effects of the assassinations & hear the impact that JFK,RFK,MLK had on the nation but we were too young to understand completely. I would REALLY like to see a huge positive change from our nation before I'm gone! I'm SOOO tired of Republican control of either the congress or the presidency throughout my lifetime.

I'm warming to the idea of Hillary as VP. I think it will be politically expedient to do so...and she's not so bad. I just didn't like the campaign's tactics against MY candidate during the primary. In the beginning (last 2 years), I also didn't like how the media and the Republicans were pushing for Hillary to be president because I didn't want her to be crushed, and I didn't want to vote for a possible loss again as the Republican slime machine would come out full force if she ran (I felt). I've always felt that she and Bill should've maintained their legacy and not tarnish it at this juncture in history. Well, they chose to go for it anyway, and I just couldn't see it. Now that she's come this far and some people have changed their tune, I'm realizing that maybe more people liked her than I thought. So, I'm coming full circle to wanting to include her in some form on Obama's team. It's never been that I didn't like her. I absolutely LOVE Obama, though.

I guess that was more than you wanted to hear but I had to get that off my chest! :)

28. I've voted in every single election since I became eligible, starting with McGovern
At all levels of government, including town and school board votes. I've never missed one. The right to vote is too precious to ever take for granted.

I have been an Obama supporter since he announced, though I loved Joe Biden as well. I voted in the NJ primary and will vote in Wisconsin in the GE.
