Something's wrong with McCain's voice...
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 11:01 AM by PCIntern
I had posted this about 4 weeks ago...his timbre has changed markedly lately...something systemic has occurred. He is speaking in low tones at his presser. His braying speechifying voice is cracking as well.

On edit: tomes to tones...so much for spel-chik

8. I have a question about Presidential succession
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 10:55 AM by Roberto1223
If McCain gets nominated with his VP choice, let's hypothetically say Gov. Crist, and in the middle of the campaign in October 2008 something happens to McCain...and he cannot run any longer...who takes his place: Crist or runner-up Romney?

14. Depends on if it's before the convention or after
Before the convention, it'll go to a floor fight - who the heck knows what might happen then. If McCain has to stand aside but is still able to express his opinion (as in: still alive and able to communicate), he'd likely get to hand-pick the nominee in that scenario, via the release of his delegates.

After the convention, it would get even messier due to state ballot laws. Chances are that McCain would remain the nominee, with both campaigns implicitly understanding that the VP nominee would be the one running and serving if elected. If the Repugnicans won in that scenario, the Electoral College would likely straighten things out and vote for the VP-elect as President.

In the case that McCain would win the General Election, and then die or become unable to serve between the Electoral College and the inauguration, then what would PROBABLY happen would be that the VP-Elect would take the oath of office on 1/20/09, then immediately become acting President on the expiration of Bush's term at noon on that day. If McCain was dead at that time, then the VP would immediately accede to the Presidency and take the oath as President under the 25th Amendment. If Mccain was otherwise incapacitated but alive, the VP would remain acting President as long as the McCain remained in that state. The 25th Amendment is the governing law here.

2. I posted earlier today--when he's relaxed, that's the real McCain.
See the "Today" interview yesterday--that "not important" comment was all his own.

When he's saying a talking point or spechifying, he's nervous. I've watched him as an Arizonan for 30 years, this isn't a new thing, actually.

he looked like the Crypt Keeper. Didn't notice the voice, just that he looks like death warmed over.

15. Actually, there's a good reason to back off of McLoon for now.
Especially when it comes to his health. We don't want the Repukes changing horses, do we?

16. Actually, I wouldn't have a problem with that.
If if they change candidates at the convention, the mear act of changing would be disasterous for the GOP.

12. spel-chik
corrects misspelling - not choice of word if the substitute word is spelt correctly. So if I write * is a lying piece of shit instead of sheet it leaves it be.

13. The repukes are using McCain as their serrogat president Paul von Hindenburg
...but I doubt that McCain will make it.

<snip>
Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg (listen (help·info)), known universally as Paul von Hindenburg (listen (help·info)) (October 2, 1847 – August 2, 1934) was a German field marshal and statesman.

Hindenburg enjoyed a long if undistinguished career in the Prussian army, eventually retiring in 1911. He was recalled at the outbreak of the First World War, and first came to national attention, at the age of sixty-six, as the victor at Tannenberg in 1914. As Germany's Chief of the General Staff from 1916, he and his deputy, Erich Ludendorff, rose in the German public's esteem until Hindenburg came to eclipse the Kaiser himself. Hindenburg retired again in 1919, but returned to public life one more time in 1925 to be elected as the second President of Germany.

Though 84 years old and in poor health, Hindenburg was obliged to run for re-election in 1932 as the only candidate who could defeat Adolf Hitler, which he did in a runoff. In his second term as President, he did what he could to oppose the Nazi Party's rise to power, but was eventually obliged to appoint Hitler as Chancellor in January 1933. In March he signed the Enabling Act of 1933 which gave special powers to Hitler's government. Hindenburg died the next year, after which Hitler declared the office of President vacant and made himself the "Führer", or the combination of the president and chancellor.

The famed zeppelin Hindenburg that was destroyed by fire in 1937 had been named in his honour, as is the Hindenburgdamm, a causeway joining the island of Sylt to mainland Schleswig-Holstein that was built during his time in office. <MORE>

21. Bad vocal technique
His "braying" style is really hard on the vocal cords. Ask any cheerleader.

If he keeps it up, he's gonna be whispering (which is also hard on the voice) by month end.
