National press club to give Larry Sinclair a speaking spot?
wow is this true? <http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/6/12/173020/735/33/534903> Didn't he fail two consecutive lie detector tests (or at least one, for which he would have received thousands of dollars if he passed) which isn't proof of lying ipso facto, but in conjunction with his relative dearth of evidence why is this guy getting a national stage? Please we need to get the word out about this, and at the very least make sure that the Press Club can give a justification for airing his story vs. the myriad of tabloid accusations out there. There's a petition at the link but I think it's somewhat poorly written, so let's try to spread the word about this in our own way, maybe submissions to Obama's new website can be one of the starting points

This is sickening, and is the latest part of the far-right agenda: If it ain't Obama's race which will scare dumbfucks into voting McCain, throw out doubts about his sexuality which the same people will take at face value.

Utterly outrageous, absolutely despicable. Unbelieveable, and I hope Obama will counter strongly.

18. No, it'd just bring this story to MSM.
Right now, no one in the MSM is reporting it and I know for a fact Republicans are hoping Obama does exactly that, because then the news will have to report it. And when they report it, they'll be discussing everything from the druge use to the sex in the limo.

27. Because they haven't reported it all throughout the entire year?
It isn't like this is just coming to light!

However, if Obama sues this guy, it'll be on the front page every newspaper. It doesn't matter if it's not true, the news will get out that a man is saying Obama had sex with him and did drugs with him. That's what they want. They want Obama to make a big stink about this, because then it becomes a huge news story.

35. He'll be given a far bigger platform if Obama were to sue.
Everyone will know about it then, because it will be on every station from national to local. That is what they want. They want this to be a huge story and the way it gains legs is if Obama steps in and sues the guy. He sues him for liable and it becomes a huge story, just as every goddamn story about a celeb suing a tabloid. That's what they want, because I guarantee you, he has someone to step in and foot any bill from a settlement. But by then, it'll be too late, everyone will know about the story and won't give a rats ass about the truth.

Now he is being legitimized at the National Press Club? The Vice President was there a couple of weeks ago. This ain't YOUTUBE. He will be in front of journalist and reporters from major news services and networks.

WHY WON'T THEY REPORT IT?

32. haha, whatever.
They're not going to report it. Not at the level they would if OBAMA FUCKING SUED THE GUY. Jesus, do you guys get it? THIS IS WHAT THEY FUCKING WANT! They want Obama to make a huge stink about it for they can get every goddamn media outlet, from national to local to report on this bullshit. It doesn't matter if it's false and it doesn't matter if Obama will fucking win the lawsuit, they don't care about that. What they do care about is the fact people will hear a story about Obama doing drugs and having sex with another man and that will stick. That will be the story...not the lawsuit, not the fact he lied, but the fact he said he had sex with Obama.

Don't you think they have people behind him ready to pay a settlement? C'mon, they want Obama to sue for they can make this a huge story. A speech at the press club might get some news, but not at the level of a lawsuit.

36. I think if they wanted to report it, they already would have.
Just because he speaks at the Press Club does not mean they will report it. However, if Obama sues, then it becomes a big story because a presidential candidate is suing some no-name fuck from old folks home accusing him of sex and druge use. That's the story and that's how it gains legs. Maybe there will be light reporting from some news sources, but not at the level of Obama sues. If Obama sues, it validates the story and that's what they want.

But the depth of its run will be decided by what Obama does. He sues and it automatically becomes a huge story because this goes from silly internet rumor to liable lawsuit and it isn't every day a presidential candidate sues some dumb fuck for liable.

43. Then they'll do it anyway!
What's going to stop them if he sues? If he sues, though, it makes it an issue far bigger than just a whisper campaign done by a fat tub of lard living in an old folks home. Then everyone starts talking about it. If the media is going to use this against Obama, they probably already would have or they're going to do it no matter what. However, suing makes it a bigger story than it will be if he just gives some wild speech in front of Press Club.

Hardball reported the smear today regarding the "why'd he tape". The reporting was "concern troll" reporting about how bad smears are and what Obama can do.

THIS is how they will report it. Not as a straight piece, but as concern trollery.

But if you guys believe they won't, so be it. I just don't have that much faith in the MSM and don't put anything past them.

34. I hope you're right. But I don't think Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly
will take a pass on it. When FOX starts running it 24/7, the rest of these incompetent networks will ALSO begin running "concern troll" stories about FOX running it and then that way they get to report it, but not as a straight reporting piece, but as a piece on those who are reporting it and the NPC.

They're going to talk about it regardless. But I do not believe the networks will, or they already would have. However, if Obama decides to sue him, the news will have no choice but to report the story, because it's not every day a presidential candidate sues for liable. However, it's quite common for stories like this to fill the most seedy aspects of campaigns. Whisper campaigns that do not have any truth. It's the Michelle Obama Whitey tape taken to the extreme.

56. Some people have forgotten that the Swiftboaters started out this way.
First, they were being promoted by right wing websites. Then, they held a press conference at the National Press Club in the spring of 2004. Then they came out with their book smearing Kerry later in the year. And of course the smear ads in September/October.

This is how the right wing operates. This piece of slime needs to be dealt with NOW.

They're not even subtle about things nowadays. They haven't been subtle since at least Bush v. Gore, and I wonder what kind of catastrophes must befall us before we get a free, non-partisan press in this country.
