GOP Joe took Gore out of context to make fun of him this am. |
|
Scarborough played a snippet of Al's Detroit speech last night including the statement that dogs and cats now know that elections matter but excluding his predicate reference to the Chinese pet foods that killed animals. Of course Joe and Willy enjoyed a big laugh at Gore's expense. The RW and their media shills honed their strategy of ridiculing Democrats in 2000 against Gore and they are still at it today. It is shameful that frat boys like Scarborough and Geist are given free rein to lie, dissemble and ridicule someone of the worth of Al Gore. But that, sadly, is the state of journalism in the current corporate media world.

1. What political leader was it that advocated for Joe on the 2000 ticket? |
|
He has been nothing but trouble in campaigns. A sour, hateful man. And who all advocated for him on the 2000 ticket? Wonder why.

5. I think you're talking about a different Joe. |
|
Easy mistake to make, though.
And now that you bring it up, running Lieberman was a really bad idea. I hope Barack has learned from Gore's negative example.

And can ya send over more coffee to my table?

Not the one that sold Gore out for a few pieces of silver.

3. Nothing new about that, as you point out. |
|
We just have to accept it as the way the universe works, and plan to overcome it.

15. I know it is not new. I remember Mathews and Fineman carrying |
|
on like junior high schoolers about some aspect of Gore's personality that they found eminently attackable. It is useful to remember that the RW has adopted ridicule as an acceptable campaign tactic and the media willingly plays along. If there is any doubt about the tactic's use in '08 go back and look at the tapes of Scarborough's scripted glee at Barack's bowling mishap.

4. well - in all fairness, Willie ridicules junior daily when as they replay |
|
Letterman's Greatest Moments in Presidential History. He never hides his chuckling as junior babbles and stumbles while trying to speak.
(He is a reich-winger, no doubt.)
And - Joe admitted that the U.S. would be much different today economically had Gore been elected. The checks and balances of a Dem in the WH with a GOP congress would not have allowed the unbridled spending that junior has gotten away with.

7. Well in all fairness you don't have to do any selective editing |
|
to play W's recurring moments of bufoonery. The difference is that the "joke" on Gore was manufactured just like "inventing the internet".

I thought she did a little bit when it first started but that stopped for the most part a long time ago.

10. One of the saddest aspects of the show is how good it was |
|
when Joe was gone and Mika was hosting. She was very good at interviewing guests, moving the conversation and adding intelligent comments. With Bully Boy Joe back, her role is limited to things like asking McCain's economic advisor whether she is running for VP. He regularly berates or ridicules her when she attempts to interject something of value with which he disagrees.

11. It's so funny (yet tragic) to read the Media Matters Morning Joe transcripts |
|
because they usually have Joe Scarborough going off into his craziness, and the only response coming from Mika is literally:
"Hmmmmm" "Oh, that's not nice." "Wow." "Um, What?" "Mmmmmmkayyy"
Though she did spice it up the other day with some variation and say "I'm not liking the tone coming out of the Obama campaign."

13. It is the juxtaposition of how well she did with Joe gone |
|
next to the almost Hank Kingsley like inanities that you quote when Joe is there that piss me off. It is truly sad that someone of obvious intelligence and ability is playing second banana to such a lightweight.

14. Scarborough is a tool. We shouldn't expect much from him.... |
|
I make it a point NOT to watch Scarborough, but our local station's signal was screwed up this morning, so I watched Morning Joe. What a waste of time. I found his comment about Gore in poor taste, and his oogling of the little-girl economy talking-head (the one who was so brilliant she pinned her microphone upside-down on her dress) was disgusting.

attractive young women and control freaks around assertive women no matter how attractive they are. These boys, and I do mean boys, have issues.

any morning I find myself watching Joe I am turning him off every other minute because he said something yet again to piss me off and I can feel my BP going up. There should be a surgeon general's warning before his show.
