Safe responses to freepers or Bush-Cheney types. Share your ideas!
Given that some of my fellow DUers have talked about confrontations they have had with freeper types/Bush-Cheney supporters et al, I thought it would be healthy to share some of the less incendiary responses we could use. I do not want any of the Kerry-Edwards crowd (okay, ANYONE) to wind up in a fistfight or worse.

My first thought was to say in response to any criticism of my Kerry-Edwards button, "Welcome to democracy, sweetie!"

Another is "You'd support him if you had my job." (I work for a newswire and hear all kinds of hooey from the GOP and the administration in particular)

Other ideas? Any stories to share? What about Michael Moore's essay on how to talk to your conservative brother-in-law? Do weigh in!

1. Hey, I do like "Welcome to Democracy!"
I'd have to try real hard not say "asshole" at the end of that sentence, but I could probably do it!

2. We all want to be happy warriors.
I mean, you've seen the expressions on the faces of Tom DeLay, Bush, Cheney (no one sneers more) and their ilk. Do any of us want to see that in the mirror when we get up? Heck, no!

Besides, our candidates are more vibrant and look happier. They practically have shiny coats!

4. "How's your 401k doing ?"
"Where's Osama ?"

"What're gas prices in your neighborhood?"

"Your insurance costs go up this year ?"

"Your dad/grandpa go to a VA Hospital ? He getting the care he needs ?"

"So what's the mood at your company ? Layoffs ? Outsourcing ?"

7. How About "Name Me One Thing Bush Hasn't Bungled?"
The guy isn't even a decent conservative. He's an incompetent in every endeavor imaginable.

Ask them how much their tax cut was compared to Cheney's $88,000. Ask them how they feel about Bush saying "Bring it on" to the insurgents, when he never saw a day of combat.

If he set out to screw up everything he touched, well then, mission accomplished.
