KY-Sen: Lunsford Trails McConnell By Four
Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 3:28 PM EDT

SurveyUSA (6/13-16, likely voters):

Bruce Lunsford (D): 46
Mitch McConnell (R-inc): 50
(MoE: ±4%)
This is the second poll we've seen showing McConnell in trouble. A Rasmussen Reports survey from last month showed Lunsford actually leading McConnell by four points. McConnell's campaign subsequently released an internal poll showing him leading Lunsford by 50-39, which wasn't exactly a spectacular performance itself. If McConnell's ceiling is around the 50% mark, this could actually be a real race.

Bonus finding: McCain only leads Obama by 53-41 in the same round of polling. This is SUSA's first poll since the Democratic presidential primary concluded.

3. Holy fuck
When they took out Daschle, they did it with a (by Republican standards) pretty strong candidate with a good report with the state's voters.

McConnell, the meanest motherfucker in the Senate, is set to fight for his life against a second-stringer. This is fantastic. I hope Lunsford eats his heart.

9. Compared to Mitch McConnell?
Lunsford is probably as close to
a progressive as you'll find in
Tennessee.

(Al Gore excepted...)

i think ull find that they are not much different in their views.

just another money and power hungry bastard trying to take the place of a power and money hungry bastard.

just ask former Governor Fletcher(R)... lundsford endorsed, campaigned, and raised money for him.

BUT
if your into the perception of things... yes, mitch losing is a great thing. i mean hey, taking down the number 1 republican in the senate would be great.

just sucks we have to do it with a republican with a D by their name.

I would love to see McConnell fade into the swamp he came from. (No offense meant to anyone from KY other than him)

16. I will send money to Franken anyway....
Getting a good rating on the Patriot's Fund
for Lunsford might get McConnell's panties in a twist...

:hi:

6. either way is a loss to us on DU
but hey, a D's gotta be better than an R eh ?

lunsford and crew are as corrupted and backwards as any republican.

infact.. lundsford supported, campaigned for, raised money for, and endorsed former governor fletcher(republican).

so in all reality, the only good thing that could come from this is the perception of us taking down the number 1 republican in the senate... other than that... its a wash.

11. Is this a lie?
...from the Meet the Candidates portion of the Progressive
Patriot's Fund...

"Bruce believes the Bush administration has taken away the opportunity to live the American dream. Bruce wants to use his real-world experience to make universal health care a reality, create good-paying jobs, bring our troops home safe and give our veterans the care they deserve."

Is anyone else in the running who would be more of a progressive?

I am so sick of this evil bastard right along with Orrin Hatch, they have been pulling the strings for years. If you ever look at old photos or footage of bill signings and dirty deeds look for McConnell and Hatch. I especially remember McConnell smirking when the anthrax episode occurred...
