"Obama has an Odd background, and being black is the least odd"
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 06:34 PM by Heather MC
Ok I am watching Hardball, and I have been seriously trying to stay away from the News lately, because it's clear they have nothing to talk about, so the conversations have just gotten super stupid and pointless.

So anyway I just happen to flip to hardball, and they were discussing Obama's latest commercial. And one of the guest made the statement
"Obama has an Odd background, and being black is the least odd"
When the hell did being black become odd on any level?
And with a 50% divorce rate, being raised by a single parent is hardly considered Odd in this country.
I am so sick of "white" people, aka the NEWS Pundits, making these comments as if before 2008 black people never existed.

Now Chris Matthews is referring to Michelle as "aggressive". It's as if they have taken Faux news talking points and turned them into a Legitimate argument.

Ok After KO tonight I am going to change the channel to HGTV or Nick at Night!

1. Tweety can't work without crap!
He thinks he's a 'playa' but really he's just another FAUX grade talking head.

Even notice how rabid he can get, literally spitting at the camera?

12. I can't figure out how you can take a newscaster with a lisp
seriously. I don't watch TV. I just catch clips of broadcasts on the internet.

I guess it sounds cruel to make fun of him for a speech impediment, but I don't mean it that way. I'm very sensitive to sound and It's just that, no matter how I try to politely ignore it, when I hear Chris Matthews talk, I think of Bugs Bunny. Actually, it makes him easier to bear.

I should think that major qualifications for the job of newscaster would be a great voice and clear enunciation. Considering the competition he must fact, you wonder how he keeps the job he has. His views are not particularly interesting or insightful. ?????

Ok ok calm down breathe slowly easy, here have a seat, I know this is shocking
but we darkies have been here for a while, we have just been under cover
remember the Cosby Show, yeah they were black.

It's ok it's ok, I know it's hard to believe, oh and um remember Sanford and Son, turns out that was filmed in the U.S. and not from Mars.

I know this is a lot to take it. But I assure you us blacks come in peace

Gee just think what will happen if Barack picks Gov. Richardson as a running Mate. They will be really trying to figure out where hispanics came from

3. And he is wrong
In today's world, being raised by grandparents and a single mother is not odd at all.

people realize...people with their heads shoved up their asses at least.

I think, sadly, it's odd when you have a kid with both BIOLOGICAL parents still together.

4. I'm convinced Tweety has lost a brain cell for every single time he's opened his mouth since birth.
It's been a slow process, but he's getting down to the last couple hundred, I'm pretty sure.

5. As a white person all I can say is that I am so sorry!
Don't you think the MSM is frustrated because they have tried repeatedly to sink Obama and it's not working? They wanted Hillary because she was an easy target for the Republicans. Unfortunately, despite all their hype and build-up, Hillary didn't win. Now they are trying their level best to bring down Obama...except he's beyond their reach. The MSM is frustrated, because Obama supporters ignore the MSM!

Too bad for them.

NOT!

6. We don't ignor the MSM, we actually pay closer attention to the stupidity
The more I hear the BS they attempt to spew about Obama the stronger my conviction to vote for him gets!

I hope when I go to vote the machine runs my vote 10 times for Obama!

11. On Race to the White House, Gregory asked if the ad was trying to make Obama seem white (they didn't
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 06:53 PM by Pirate Smile
come out and say it that directly but that was what they implied) because of the family pictures. I think it was even the RW guy (who is generally an ass) that said, well, that is who Obama really is. Those white folks in the ad are who raised him and are his family.

13. Might it be time for a little email Tweety campaign? I think it just might.
We've been too soft on him. Of course we get onto him here, but we haven't let him have it in emails lately.

14. Whether being black is odd or not changes by the minute.
One minute there are 36,739,073 blacks...
The next minute there are 36,739,074 blacks...

I guess you would be right 50% of the time.

:sarcasm:

19. It was Charlie Cook who said it.
I understand your reaction to it but I think he was saying Barack has an odd background for a presidential candidate. Which is obviously true. There has never been a black nominee from either party. Its also true that Barack's background is made more "odd" by the fact that he's from Hawaii and lived in Indonesia for a few years. Anyway, I think Charlie is a good guy so I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he chose his words poorly.
