Airing of the commercial for free consitutes a contribution to the Bush campaign. They are not airing anti-Bush commercials like they are anti-Kerry commercials. Therefore, the air-time is a very pricey gift to the Bush campaign. There are limits on financial contributions. I think this presents a reasonable argument - especially since CBS News again showed the ad today without any rebuttal.

I believe that showing the ad is legal under campaign finance laws if it's shown as a news item.
