Any chance of a friendly Democrat in the Senate putting a poison pill in FISA? |
|

That to me seems like the best bet in killing this piece of shit of a bill - throw in something like, say, raising the minimum wage to $12/hour, or mandating an investigation into Bush's illegal wiretaps, or something that I'm not thinking of that will get the Repugs in the Senate to shit their pants and filibuster the bill into oblivion while shrieking in fake outrage.
Is there any chance of that happening?

1. The best way to kill this thing is for the Dem's to vote it down. |
|
Is that too fucking much to ask?

3. What chance of that is there with Lieberman as the tie breaker? |
|
Maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.

4. The best way to kill the bill is by having what can't be done done? |
|
That is too much to fucking ask.

2. Removal of retrocative immunity would be the poison pill |
|
If the Senate can successfully remove retroactive immunity, Bush will veto the FISA bill.

5. Forgive My Ingorance of Procedure, |

but do amendments have to be introduced in committee? That would be the best shot, because the Dems control the committee, right? So they should have the votes.
That would certainly provide an escape for Senators who are worried about the political repercussions of their vote. It will be a test of who's serious about it.
I am not holding my breath. This smacks of something Congress does not take seriously and simply wants to take a hit from their constituency and move on.
