The Director of Free Republic, Scott Swett, also Swift Boat Vets Webmaster
From the "Disinfopedia" entry on "Swift Boast Veterans For Truth."

"Free Republic is one of the conservative websites where Corsi's racist contributions were posted. Scott Swett, Free Republic's Director, is also the webmaster for the Swift Boat Veterans website - further indication that the group is neither unbiased or nonpartisan."

http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml?title=Swift_Boat_Veterans_for_Truth

Swett speaks:

The webmaster for a group of Vietnam veterans responsible for a controversial anti-Kerry ad says those Swift boat vets have valid questions about John Kerry's military record. Scott Swett manages an Internet site called SwiftVets.com, where the ad can be found. He says the former soldiers in the ad who raise questions about Kerry's actions during the Vietnam War are not being "in any way controlled or orchestrated." Nevertheless, the Internet activist claims these vets are "being smeared at the moment as being politically motivated or being tools of the Republican political operatives. But what you have to understand about these guys is they are not political. And, as somebody who's spent time with them, it's difficult for me to imagine a political operative going to one of these combat veterans and trying to talk him into doing anything he didn't want to do." Swett says people like John McCain and other critics need to realize that it is the Democratic presidential candidate's own people who made his Vietnam record an issue. "There's no question that the Kerry campaign opened the door when they had the boat go across the river, and John Kerry stood up and said he was reporting for duty. I think that's fair game," Swett says.

2. Well, if Perry is the biggest "Swift Boat" contributor...
...and Freeper Director Swett is the "Swift Boat" Webmaster, maybe the IRS ought to take a closer look at Jim Robinson's books...d'ya think?

3. I don't know....
...who this Swett is. Freerepublic.com's owner is Jim Robinson, and his son John is the webmaster. Who is Swett?

5. Disinfopedia refers to him as the "Director" of F.R. (see post above)
They do not refer to him as Free Republic's Webmaster, so it's not contradictory of John Robinson as F.R.'s Webmaster.

He is a Web Designer in Falls Church VA., listed on the IRS form that you will see in my sig line, as a contributor to the Swift Boat Vets. He also is Webmaster for their site.

And on Free Republic's own Web Site:

An Interview with Scott Swett - Director of the Free Republic Network
Independent Bias Website June 30, 2004 Rich Bowden

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1164383/posts

"Much of the media is helping hamstring our efforts by highlighting casualties, ignoring accomplishments, and generally conveying the sense that we can’t possibly succeed." - Scott Swett

Scott Swett is a director of the Free Republic Network, an Internet-based non-profit that supports grassroots conservative activism. During the U.S. invasion of Iraq last spring, the FR Network helped coordinate "support the troops" rallies in hundreds of locations across the country. Mr. Swett represented this effort during an April 1, 2003 appearance on Fox & Friends, noting that an overwhelming majority of media coverage was given to anti-war protests -- which he termed "peace riots" -- while ignoring the 150,000 people who had attended pro-America rallies the previous weekend.

Early this year, Mr. Swett began researching the "war crimes" propaganda campaign that successfully undermined public support for America's defense of South Vietnam. The result of this work is WinterSoldier.com, a web site designed as a central repository of information for writers and researchers investigating the actions of John Kerry, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and others during the Vietnam era. The site quickly attracted the interest of Vietnam veterans, hundreds of whom have written in to share their own experiences. Other researchers have now joined the effort, and continue to provide new material and opinion articles.

7. OH!!
The free republic network is not officially part of freerepublic.com.

The network is something outside the LLC owned by Jim Robinson. Something else entirely, loosely spun off by members of FR to connect local groups.

It's based in Virginia; Robinson is in Fresno.

8. So he's not officially connected, but still connected...
It's convenient for Robinson, too, because if the IRS did open the books on the Swift Boat Vets, he could say "I'm not officially connected to that, other than in mind, body and spirit."

4. If this is true, the racism problems over there should be talked about
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 12:52 AM by Democat
Look at some of the comments that get posted over there.

Does Bush want to be associated with racism, anti-semitism, sexism, and other things that get posted over there?

6. It is true. See post #5 above. All of the pieces are coming together.
The whole "Swift Boat" mess is a combination of Texas real estate developer money and Free Republic idealism.

And it's all documented on the Web.
