I think we forget sometimes.. |

that this election will be more of a referendum on Bush than anything else. The voters in this election will be retrospective, meaning that they won't be listening to the promises the candidates are making. What voters will be looking at is Bush's four years in office and what he has or has not accomplished during that time. That is why I think we should concentrate more on the issues such as the economy and the war and health care. Worrying about where Bush was during his national guard service isn't going to change any voters minds. The same with Rep. trying to hark on Kerry and Cambodia, no one who votes is going to care. As for the SBVT ad, Kerry's camp should have responded faster to the ad's but I'm glad he has started to finally. Even that commercial is not going to hurt Kerry as badly as some people think it will. We should spend our time trying to get the word out about the economy, the tax cuts, the deficit, and the health care situation. If we can show the voters how Bush has screwed up these things, that will help Kerry much more than worrying about where Bush was during Vietnam. To an average voter character is not that important, because if it was than no politician would ever get elected.

Welcome to DU!
I agree with you.
It's time to ask that question.
Are you better off NOW then you were 4 years ago?
Case closed.
