1. Wes Clark, most likely at this point. |
|
Given that National Security is the single area in which McCain consistently polls higher than Obama, I can't see how any other choice would be more useful in garnering a larger share of votes, especially from independents and soft Republicans.

2. Your mouth to Obama's ear! |
|
We can only hope you are right about Clark. He's a good man and would help the ticket a huge amount.

8. Clark is very closely tied to the Clintons. McCain will use this |
|
to argue that if something happens to Obama, we will have the Clintons as VPs. This will drum up the anti-Clinton vote.

11. Presidential candidates do not go after VP candidates |
|
Why would anyone say "if anything happen?"
But one way to draw the Clinton supporter is the raise this point.

6. Obama/Schweitzer, now there is a ticket you can believe in. |
|
Clark can have another position in the administration.
Obama does not need a military person as VP. Military does not equal fit to be commander-in-chief. One need look no further than McCain who voted for the dumbest debacle in U.S. history.
They are trying to paint Obama as just another politician. Obama/Schweitzer would overwhelm ANY McCain/VP ticket.

9. I like Schweitzer, but he's unknown to most of the country |
|
The repubs are already trying to paint Obama as the scary unknown, we can't have two unknowns, esp if McCain nominates someone most of the country knows. Then it becomes vote for the ones you know, not the ones you don't.

16. I think who Schweitzer is will help eliminate the 'scary unknown' aspect. |
|
Schweitzer's personality is such that I think he'd make an impression (positive) on people when they heard him, and the Obama campaign would sure get him 'out there'. And they'd remember him. We might even get the NRA endorsement with him on the ticket!
He's so down to earth and would have a calming effect, IMO.

14. I'm "hiring" Clark as SOD. |
|
Biden as SOS.
Yesterday the guy who was filling in for Rachel reacted VERY positively when a caller mentioned Schweitzer. For all the reasons we feel he'd be a great choice - he was very excited and supportive of him. Now we can only hope Obama is. :7
