Challenging Bush's manhood--how to destroy the little twerp.
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 11:19 AM by geek tragedy
A great swath of our country buys into macho ideas of what it takes to be a "strong leader." The Rethugs are masters at mocking weak liberal "girly men" who are too intellectual, European, gay friendly, etc. That's why some people still think Bush is the best person to keep us safe and protect us.

John Kerry can overcome this by out-Alphaing Bush. Instead of calling Bush evil, stupid, a Nazi, a jingoist, it would be more effective to use language like:

"coward"

"hides behind"

"lets other people do his dirty work"

"runs away from his record"

"chickenhawk"

"draft dodger"

He flew around the country like a scared bunny rabbit on 9/11, after hiding behind a children's book when the incident first happened. He hides behind Vietnam veterans. He hides behind a Bible. He doesn't have the guts to answer questions honestly.

We shouldn't talk about Bushco, the BFEE, or other such terms. Whenever we talk about his family connections, we should always use the word "Daddy." Talk about "Uncle Dick" and the other "grownups" in the administration. Talk about his vacations as "recess" or other youth-oriented terms.

Mock his courage. Mock his lack of manliness. Talk about how weak he is. Forget about the cowboy crap, which only makes him seem more manly. Talk about his time spent as an East-coast prep school cheerleader.

Refer to his lack of height. Infantilize the little pansy.

To paraphrase Lee Atwater (who was much more effective than Karl Rove), strip the bark off the little bastard and make the Pet Goat his running mate.

1. You're right, but Kerry should not do this, others can...
It's important to destroy the public view of Bush as much as possible, and making him appear ineffectual is an excellent way to do it.

3. I think as many people as possible should, including Kerry
I think it's great for Kerry to call him out on this. It's also important that he discuss issues that matter today, and continue to show who's trying to shift the focus.

Max Cleland was GREAT on Hardball last night, calling the Chimp out.

All the generals and admirals should keep at it, also, and anybody and everybody else. I think the phrases in the original post are important.

5. I agree Kerry should only obliquely challenge Bush's manhood.
Which is what he's already done.

The pummeling of the boy President should be done by our shock troops--letter writers, radio personalities, TV guests etc.

Let Max Cleland talk about Bush being a coward--like Tom Harkin did to Cheney.

Remember that Baby Bush's Daddy was well known for being a "wimp." He also hated that term to the point of pathology.

Imagine Boy Coward's reaction if he did the same to him.

6. sure.....and what about
debates?

he's trying to weasel out on one of them

can't count how many times I heard callers on various shows today say that clinton only did two in 96

they should hit HARD on his cowardice, his indecisiveness in a decision like that

if he can't decide on how many debates to hold, what might he do in the opening moments of an ATTACK on the United States?

oh, wait a minute, we already KNOW what he'd do

NOTHING!

8. See this article "The God of Death, War, and Madness."
http://kenlayne.com/2004/08/god-of-war-death-madness.html

<snip>
"Look at you people with this Vietnam boat nonsense. Every day, you're pounding home the fact that Kerry fought in Vietnam. You jackasses started this stuff so early -- with the "Oh he protested the war" and the Jane Fonda photoshops -- that the Kerry people turned the whole Democratic convention into a celebration of the Vietnam War. Nobody even remembers being against Vietnam anymore. The next Vietnam movie will be a buddy comedy starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and all they're going to do is kill Charlie and win medals and dance with beautiful girls. It'll make $300 million on the opening weekend. They're going to tear down that bummer memorial in Washington and put up a 1,000-foot statue of a smiling American soldier proudly standing on a stack of golden skulls. You morons have made Vietnam the Democrats' favorite memory and greatest victory. Then you scream hooray when a gang of addled old Nixon bagmen show up in a teevee commercial to bitch about Kerry fighting in Vietnam, and once again the normal people with lives only remember, again, that Kerry fought in Vietnam and Bush didn't."

"But," Tim sputtered, "Kerry clearly claimed he was in Cambodia several days before he was in Cambodia. It was seared--"

"Stop that," I said, poking his neck with the corkscrew worm. "Listen to yourself. What are you doing, again? That's right, you're reminding people that the other guy fought in Vietnam. Have you become so brain dead that you think this helps your girly boy Bush? Do you honestly believe the coward boy can beat the War Monster?"

Blair tried to shake the confusion from his head. Then his eyes brightened for a moment and he said, "Four months! Kerry was only in Vietnam for four months!"

Death, War, Death, War ... Worship

Me: "See? You did it again. You people can't stop reminding everybody that Kerry was in Vietnam, taking lives like your boy eats cookies. Killing people, saving people, holding Life & Death in his hands like a savage gift. He kills the Viet Cong or anybody else he chooses, he saves a U.S. sailor who fell out of the boat, he walks the halls of the Senate deciding who he'll kill or who he'll save. In Vietnam, Kerry is a death's head of gruesome power, while your Bush hides in Alabama, a scared little girl. And what did little Bush do in Texas?"

Blair grinned, foolishly thinking the ball was again in his court. "He killed many people in Texas. All those executions ...."

"Ha! Your girly Bush killed nobody. He signed off on lethal injections. He's a middle manager in a cubicle at the suburban branch of the Bank of Death, initialing memos he doesn't even know how to read. What kind of Texas oilman is your little girl? You ever see 'Dallas'?"

10. Poppy/Daddy Bush was a girly wimp
with a weak voice. Dana Carvey played him like he didn't have a spine.

Baby Bush has a complex about being more manly than Daddy--see the Iraq policy for an example.

But Baby Bush is just another wimp from the Bush family. He runs away from any tough fight and hides behind real men when the going gets tough.

(Note: I generally find this kind of talk repulsive, but it is very, very effective, and kind of fun too, when directed at an appropriately hateful target)

12. Dead on. George Bush is a soft palmed little frat boy...
Who has never done an honest days work in his life.

He's a failure on every front, a pathetic little puppet who cluelessly dances for his arrogant puppeteers, Big Business, Karl Rove and his "have more' base.

Bush is a punk. He is the effeminate little rich boy that wouldn't have lasted a week outside of his family's protective bubble without running home to mommy in tears crying about the meanies who took his lollipop and called him little bunny poopy-pants.

13. Your right. I nominate you as our leader.......
Since we just got deserted by Dem Strategist who said "We weren't being helpful to the "process" with our angry responses". We need leadership with moral clarity. Calling Bush a COWARD for the next three months is an example of "getting it". Now if we can just get it in the blogosphere first, then push it up to the mainstream. I wouldn't wait for Kerry to do it. According to DS, he's busy playing chess and judo when what we really need is Mike Tyson.

How about this? Correspondence to the media should lean heavily on the wimp/coward line rather than the dumb cowboy line.

The media are not very original people--if they get force-fed "Bush is a wimp while Kerry is a stud" enough times, it'll start to filter through.

There is a place in a campaign for both judo chops and kicks to the groin.

The real trick would be to get the media to treat Bush as the weak, ineffectual leader he is. Talk about his weakness, his unwillingness to meet challenges from Kerry, etc.

If the media offers that spin, Bush will lose 40 states.

19. Subtle little digs from the campaign should be the first wave.
Pin pricks--casual references to the Alabama National Guard that sort of thing.

They should gradually escalate--make each cut a little more painful until they set him up so that he snaps at a debate. Kind of like they do with a bullfight.

Except Bush is veal, not a bull.

20. Excellent advice!
Arrogant pricks are usually hypersensitive about insults, and Bush is no exception. At the slightest blow to his ego and his imagined manhood, he lashes back with a wise-ass retort that would get him decked in any neighborhood bar in the country. He's done it time and time again, and the Press has given him a pass every time. The Kerry campaign would do well to keep the focus on the "Manhood" issues -- while the rank and file (us) do the truly nasty stuff.

Note I said "nasty", not "dirty". All we need do is tell the truth about Dubya. That's plenty nasty.

How 'bout a "Yale Cheerleaders Squad" of drag queens following him around? Or a "Fightin' Chickenhawks" brigade of phony soldiers. Or a bunch of "frat boys" to carry a "Skull-n-Bonez" coffin around to his appearances.

Like the man said -- let's Bring It On.

23. Good ideas, except that

bringing up Skull and Bones is no good since Kerry is a Bonesman, too. Bring up his generic frat boy persona instead.

The first time I ever saw George W. Bush speaking on TV news, I thought "Smart-ass frat boy." He's a type. We've all known arrogant rich brats like Dubya.

21. Here's a challenge to his manhood, compare awards
Kerry

Kerry' s

Dubya*

BBBBBBBBBBBBB

I have verified the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon only via a photograph of George W. Bush. Other Air Force awards can only be verified if Bush releases his DD214. The two Texas Air National Guard Medals were verified via Bush's ANG22.

All of Kerry's awards are verified via his DD214 and DD215. In addition to the graphic, the following should be added:

Combat "V" Device should be attached to his Bronze Star
Two Gold Star Devices should be attached to his Purple Heart.
Four Bronze Star Devices should be attached to his Vietnam Service Medal.

26. Let's all sing it!
Bravely bold Prez Georgie flew forth in the National Guard.
He was not afraid to die, O brave Prez Georgie.
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Prez Georgie!

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken,
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Prez Georgie!

His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off
And his pen--

Brave Prez Georgie ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.
When drug testing reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Prez Georgie turned about
And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Prez Georgie.

He is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge.
