Need some advice: Is it obvious what this picture is supposed to be?
Edited on Sat Jun-28-08 12:56 AM by democrattotheend
Trying to decide whether to use this in a slideshow for work. Is it obvious what this picture is?

Update: Here's version 2. Still needs some work, but I think it's a little better.

Wasn't sure if people would recognize them...could not fit Malia and Sasha in...let me rework it and see if I can do that

4. Where's Waldo?
Seriously, it's pretty obvious, though the camera angle is different from what I remember most inaugural shots to have been.

And if you could soften or blur Barack and Michelle and dial down the contrast and brightness, it would be a slicker dub.

THe the Bush twins should be the two adorable little Obama girls.....

But yes, it is obvious what the picture is meant to represent; the future. :)

11. I would find a pic of an inaugural that has less recognizable faces
I would also grayscale the whole image so it doesn't look so photochopped.

23. LOL! .. You need to do a little more tweaking on that thing..

Kerry looks like he's distracted and looking at something else..

And what's the deal with where President Obama is standing? There's a white rail going through him and the podium is off to the side..

24. What the hell was Kerry doing on the stage to begin with?
That seems cruel and unusual to make him stand there for Bush's inauguration! How come he was on the stage? That seems weird.

p.s.. You've probably already seen these since you're working on inaugural photos, but these are President Clinton's in 1997:

Edit: Oh yeah! And 1993 before that! http://photo2.si.edu/inaugural/clinton1/clinton1.html

26. Yes, thank you.
I thought about using that, but I needed a larger picture, and I decided to begin the presentation showing the real photo, with the Headline "January 20, 2001 - The Nightmare Began". (Yes, I know this picture is from bush's second inauguration, but hopefully nobody will know that). Then I end it with "January 20, 2009 - A New Era Begins" and use the Photoshopped picture.

27. There's gotta be a shot of the back of John Roberts' head somewhere
Just paste it over Rehnquist's head so you don't have to track down John Boy in the striped robe.

but make sure and make your cut-ins the same focus as the rest of the picture. That way, it wont look so photoshopped.

29. OK I have to ask: 1) what context would you use this for work? Are you sure it's OK to be political?
Edited on Sat Jun-28-08 12:55 PM by Richardo
2) There must be dozens if not hundreds of inauguration photos that are taken from the front - President-elect on one side, Chief Justice on the other, spouse center - which are immediately identifiable as an Inauguration. No guess-work involved. Plus, they are fairly two-dimensional and would be a lot easier to photoshop, I would think.

I'd really suggest you rethink both the concept and the approach - this one just isn't working.

32. I work for a political organization that recently endorsed Obama.
So yes, it's ok to be political...that's the whole point.

I looked for more easily identifiable inauguration photos and couldn't find any, surprisingly. Any ideas?
