Or so, it would seem.

I did an action thread here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6423514&mesg_id=6423514

and I had one DU poster tell me that "Your McCain stuff is old news, we all know about that, right? Rather see DU take a more pro-active unity position, than the poo-poo, ca-ca stuff like this.
How else do you win crossover and independent voters?"

Another one said, " I read about this earlier (McCain claiming credit)", and made no other comments about that particular issue, as poster was too busy being excited about the Obama issue that concerns him much more.

I note that most McCain threads die a quick death, for the most part.

Here's one about him not paying the property taxes for the last 4 years on one of his Residences; this one in California: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6424074&mesg_id=6424074
:wtf: It should have 100 recommends by now!

as should this one, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6423110&mesg_id=6423110

and the McCain youtube of the antiwar protestors interrupting his speech should be going viral right about now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLi60VSQA9o

There's like only 5 threads that I can count about McCain, while I find many more full of negativity on our Democratic Nominee, and just as many threads if not more with the name Clinton in them.

Is John McCain that boring?

Because he may be so boring that he ends up winning the Presidency, just cause nobody is even excited enough to even try and go after him.

That's pretty dull.

2. I've posted countless McCain threads no one cares about.
I guess he IS boring. Personally, I'd rather post positive Obama threads.

I do know McCain threads are necessary...

Here's one, about his faithful campaign manager...

3. This is the same thing that happened in 2000.
We looked at the Republican, said, "pfft, what a joke," and then proceeded to sit idly by, knocking on the Democrat for his impurities and ignoring the real enemy.

18. Unfortunately, you're right.
The same old posters making the same old attacks they have for the past 6 months. Anything to piss and moan about Obama, all while claiming "oh, but I'll vote for him!"

8. The Dems wanted an exciting candidate, an they got one
so everyone gets excited about what he says and does, and then says and does something else

McCain gets a pass from everyone, he just steadily marches on

The Dem Drama, both real and manufactured makes great tv, and everyone is getting a platform

10. Good point, yet again
As I watch from the great white North (Canada), it boggles my mind to see some Democrats on DU prefer to post negative Obama OPs as opposed to posting negative McCain OPs as well as critiquing threads that DO focus on McCain if they deign to comment at all.

I was a member of DU in 2004 and remember it happening then as well, it was sad to see then and is still sad to see now.

I commend you, FrenchieCat for working so hard to try and change the focus to what it should be!

Recommended.

13. talking about Obama is way more fun than talking about McCain
I agree with you we should do the hard work of actually hurting our eyes by looking at him/reading about him and hurting our minds by listening to him....but we must keep people focused on what a bad candidate he is in any election but especially one with Barack Obama.

15. Yeah, he's boring. But he's also tired and tiresome.
We (and hopefully America) are tired of dealing with that crap. Maybe we'd rather look to the positive for a while rather than wallow in the muck of McCain.

19. Very good point you're making! K&R. I think the prob is...
McCain et al appear to be such poor competitors (and the horrible Republican brand) that people are just considering an Obama win inevitable. It's like the Chicago Bulls w/ Michael Jordan going for their 3-peat after a record breaking season -- you know the outcome.

The press, and apparantly us too (never thought that would happen to be honest), are letting John McCain get away with murder time and time again simply because he's so dull and blatantly awful at his job.

There's a reason why some of us call him McSame. And we've already spent years discussing (and time has proven) how dysfunctional and irrational his Republican positions on the issues are.

On the other hand, quite a few people projected hopes onto the new kid on the block, Obama, and of late he and the campaign have engaged in a number of gratuitous smacks against rational progressive positions (or on straight up constitutional matters) that have surprised or appalled some folks.

Under the circumstances, which would you expect people would be talking about?
