Is the McCain Campaign faking an insanity defense?
This week Senator Obama will be pushing offense by going to three red states and celebrating the 4th of July in Montana (McCain is currently +5 in the polls there.)http://www.montanasnewsstation.com/global/story.asp?s=8575356

He will also be going to Nevada (McCain +3) and North Dakota (no recent polls).

Senator McCain is continuing his oddball campaign for looking for American voters in other countries.

So far Senator McCain has made a total of 18 trips to foreign countries http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/06/24/mccain-heads-to-colombia-mexico-next-week/.

As America gets ready to celebrate the 4th of July Senator McCain is heading to Mexico and Columbia

RIVERSIDE, CA — Sen. McCain announced Tuesday that he is headed south of the border next week, his second international trip in nearly 10 days, as he continues to tout his foreign policy experience.

“I want to go to Colombia as it is a vital ally in our struggle against the scourge of drugs, a great amount of cocaine that comes into the United States of America as we know comes from Colombia. Colombia is succeeding and they are succeeding in combating the FARC,” McCain told reporters in Riverside, adding that he also wants to reiterate his support for Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. “I want to thank him. I want to know how we can work more closely together. I want to assure him that I believe in free trade between our two countries, that I believe our two nations can work together and fight back this scourge of drugs that has so much afflicted their country and ours. And so I will be telling him that.”

The trip will also serve as a contrast with Obama, who has never visited Latin America and who opposes the Colombia Free Trade Agreement. McCain supports the agreement, which is currently held up in Congress.

McCain’s three-day trip to Colombia and Mexico in the wake of last week’s Canada visit, during a campaign which has seen him go abroad more than a dozen times.

It seems obvious that the Obama is taking advantage of McCains trip to South America to have an ackward juxtaposition of stories on the evening news.

What is Senator McCain's strategy in all of this?

He takes weekends off.

He is advertising in California.

He appoints former cabinet members in the Mexican Government to his campaign staff.

And now he is offerring up this massive slap in the face to all of the Republican base that is anti-immigration by hob nobbing with the countries most responsible for sending migrants without documentation and picks the run up to July 4th to do it.

If you have some Republican friends you may wish to remind them that Conservative Blogosphere went crazy earlier when McCain appointed Hernandez as his 'Hispanic Outreach Director http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmI4OGJhMjE2Y2ZkYzU5ODNiNGQ3ZTE1MjJiY2EwZTg=

Hernandez served in the cabinet of President Vincente Fox in the cabinet-level Presidential Office for Mexicans Abroad (making him, in effect, Fox’s “Hispanic outreach director”).

Is this some kind of elaborate insanity defense?

Is he driving his numbers down so far that when he picks up a couple of points it will look like he is having a comeback?

Maybe he got tired of giving speeches where demonstrators kept calling him a warmonger.

3. LOL ... It occurred to me he might have Alzheimer's
Worked for Reagan.

He may be lining up the ducks for a momentum storyline, the repubs are good at that and the M$M will eat it up for days and weeks.

4. I just remembered that in addition to his campaigning and meeting with foreign heads of state
he is also personally running the vetting for his Vice Presidential search.

And he is taking the weekends off.

6. mccain speaks with forked tongue but
is he trying to win the Hispanic vote with being in Mexico and Columbia during the 4th of July?

We know he'll do anything he thinks will help get his forked a$$ in the big power seat but all his heinous pandering to the lowest common denominator will be for naught.

11. Should've scheduled the 16th of September...
for his Mexican visit.

Yes John, September 16th is Mexico's Indpendence Day...not Cinco de Mayo, May 5th. Just in case.

10. Lieberman must not be with him...
to remind him of this faux pas.

Sad though, to celebrate the 4th students at Columbia had a rocket ship built to send him to...

Fizzle...

Hope he finds the crowds warm and friendly outside of the US, because he won't find it here.
