Thank You *President George W. Bush PLEASE READ
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 12:04 PM by demdog78
Some of you, in fact many of you, may find this controversial or even offensive, but I hope that you will be willing to give it some serious thought and at least respect my opinion.

I would like to offer *President George W. Bush my sincerest gratitude for all the horrible things he has done to this country these past seven years.

Personally, I am not a "religious" person, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there are no accidents. So when Bush said he was *President because "God wanted him to be," on some level I have to agree. George W. Bush is the *president because he was "supposed" to be the *president.

Why would I say such a horrible thing? Because I belive whole-heartedly that it is true.

I look back on his *presidency and see all the horrible things he has done; all the lives and liberties we have lost. For a long time I saw this as nothing more than a horrible waste. I cried. I yelled. I hurt. All for what I saw as nothing more than pointless partisanship and a disgusting ploy for a select few of deplorable individuals to make an obscene amount of illegal money.

And while I still think every single thing he did to this nation, and many nations abroad, was horrible and just despicable, I no longer see it all as pointless; which is why I now find myself thanking *President George W. Bush for all of it.

I see what he has done to this nation, and for the first time I am clearly able to see what the "TRUE" end result will be.

People, we are upon a precipice of something wonderous. This nation is about to do something incredible.

It is only when we have lost it all that we can begin to see exactly what we had; and to finally appreciate it and come into the light.

In just five short months this country will take the first step in healing itself.

In just five short months this country will elect the first African American president, and in essence rectify a lifetime of civil and racial injustices.

In just five short months this country will EARN back it's civil liberties that it NEVER thought it could REALLY lose.

We have lost so much in these past seven years. More than any of us could have really fathomed. Yes, there is always talk of it; marshall law, a form of neo-nazism in the US, but who REALLY thought they would see it come to fruition in their lifetime. I did not.

And now, thanks to *President George W. Bush we will NEVER again take for granted our freedom of speech, our freedom to assemble, our right to privacy or any of our other civil liberties our forefathers fought for.

*President George W. Bush is a horrible disgusting person, and a disgrace to this country, to this world. He has been the worst *president this country has EVER seen, and I hope the son of a bitch gets tried for war crimes and rots to death in a prison cell when this is all done. Make no mistake about my feelings towards him.

However, it is with deep regret and disbelief that I say thank you to him. Because without *President George W. Bush this country and it's citizens would have learned nothing.

The shame is that it took a man of such a vile caliber to teach us the value of what we already had. The shame is that we took so long to finally realize that we DO matter and that we CAN make a difference, and that everything we hold dear can be taken from us in the bat of an eye.

That shame is that we DID have to lose EVERYTHING before we FINALLY woke up.

Well, I am awake now. My eyes are finally open, and I am able to see this country for what it has been and what it IS about to become; a country where every man, woman and child really ARE equal and justice is TRULY blind; and mostly a place where the people REALLY value their liberties; because they now KNOW that they can be taken away.

In five short months we will see it come to fruition.

Over the last seven years I have mourned with you; my friends and family, for all that we have lost. However, now I look forward to celebrating with you all that we are about to accomplish.

It truly is a wonderful time to be an American. And it is which full-hearted exuberance and a bright new perspective that I say to you all; Welcome to the NEW United States of America.

...OH, the asterick... If Barry Bonds gets on, so does Bush. Just because he cheated doesn't mean it didn't happen. ;-)

1. You're right in the belief that you don't realize just how much you have
until you're lost it. I just can't force myself to thank Shrub for it!

The other accomplishment he succeeded with is destroying the MYTH that the Pubs can run the Country better & are better with your money! There are a lot of voters who are now saying "OK, we gave you a chance...gave you total control, and you FAILED!"

6. Yeah... but had he not been such a pathetic *president...
we would not be about to make history.

Believe me... I had a hard time typing it. But when I look at the bigger picture...

2. Doesn't anyone believe that Bush did precisely what he ordained to do, also
he may do Iran before exiting DC.

12. It wouldn't suprise me.
That's why we have to be strong and diligent in seeing Obama elected.

3. No can do. Mass murder and war profiteering woke up some ignorant people?
I am supposed to thank some war criminals who made our country far less secure and stomped on our constitution and international reputation because they woke some ignorant idiots up? Not possible.

Without him we would have learned nothing? Sorry pal, we would have learned a lot with President Gore-- how moving away from fossil fuels builds up our economic AND military security, for example.

5. I didn't say you had to thank him...
but the simple truth is that whether we like it or not, in the end this country will be a better place... not because of him, but in spite of him.

10. No there IS NO WAY that this country will be a better place after * than it was before him.
We have lost too much that cannot be regained. Our international reputation will take years to rebuild. We have created thousands more terrorists with our actions in Iraq and covert actions in Iran. We have destroyed lots of natural environments and lost a lot of valuable time in moving away from fossil fuels. We have privatized too many governmental services and thereby weakened them. We have gone from trillions in surplus to trillions in deficit. We have transferred billions of dollars from the middle class to the super rich. We have let our infrastructure flounder. We have ignored wanton war profiteering without impeaching an out of control President & Vice President -- that is not learning from our mistakes.

Many of us already knew we had miles to go in the year 2000, and looked forward to having a geeky President Gore who understood these issues and would lead us closer to a more sustainable future.

There IS NO SILVER LINING to the grotesque abomination of the Bush-Cheney coup d'etat.

13. You were telling me to THANK HIM and I'm saying we have lost far too much
to EVER thank George Bush. Don't be straying from your original premise and acting like I don't have hope that Obama will be far better than W! You asked me to thank W. because he showed how totally vile and un-American the country could be pushed to become. And I'm saying I can't do that because we have lost too much ground.

Things will be MUCH BETTER if Obama is allowed to become President in 2009 than they were in 2001-2008, but not better than they would have been if the Bush-Cheney administration HAD NEVER HAPPENED>

14. I told you no such thing. I didn't tell ANYONE to thank him.
How about you learn to read what is actually written and stop making false assumptions.

8. This has occured to me too.
It's almost like we *had* to have Bush before we could have Obama. We *had* to have Bush before people would wake to the facts of global warming and peak oil and the insanity our economy is based on. My question is, will it be worth it? And, is it too late?

9. We *Have* to belive that it is not too late.
And we have to belive that it was worth it. Otherwise... why are we fighting for change? Why do we bother?
