2. But we now know that all of the abuses Kerry described actually happenned. |
|
How is giving that testimony before a Congressional commission "betraying" anybody?
By this logic, all wrongdoings should just be covered up.

Actually, he was only testifying about what other vets had said about what they had done. The ad makes it sound like he's accusing fellow vets instead of just reporting what they said.
Also, the ad isn't supposed to air until next week because it hasn't been put up to buy yet.

4. That's a much weaker ad than the first one, not nearly as well done. |
|
I think most people have bad memories of Viet Nam, and associate it with a lot of atrocious behavior by soldiers sent there (from clear examples such as Mei Lai (sp?) and other well documented incidences of atrocities). Basically all Kerry is saying is that bad shit happened in Viet Nam and, well, everyone now knows that's true. So the Swift Boat Vets are just bitching that he said it, not whether it was true or not. No fire here, these Repug flunkies missed the target on this one.

I hope they have LOTS of public smears to make against this decorated vet. Now that their connections to the Bush campaign are coming out, it'll only make Bush look like a chickenshit liar.
I guess Rove didn't read the Times today.

Ha said that some of the language he used may have been a bit harsh, and certain things were said in anger, but he is still proud to have spoken up against the war, as he should be.

12. Kerry also said supportive, kind and sympathetic things about the troops |
|
At the time. The famous comment about asking someone to be the last one to die in Vietnam is positively electric.
The rape line is pure out-of-context personal assault, and they're the dregs of humanity for teasing out these statements to misrepresent his overall testimony. Kerry's testimony characterized it as a huge mistake and one that put our troops in extreme peril.
It would be very easy to pull very sympathetic quotes about the soldiers out and cut together a commercial that ties his concern for fellow combat soldiers in a consistent thread with what he's saying now about Junior's elective world conquest. This could be a very handy way of simply showing consistency in the man's humanity and the ugliness of his opponents.
