how DO you counter a lie? The Swiftboat ads are on the face |
|
scandalous and ludicrous. How dare they attack a patriot who served with distinction while bush was lying in the gutter drunk. These ads are llike terrorist attacks; if someone is willing to lie or do whatever needs to be done to win, I just don't see how you can stop that. When you are up against a bunch of sleezebags who have the press in the pocket and will report ANYTHING as legitimate, what do you do? The truth is not nearly as exciting as a bag of lies and lies and innunedo unfortunately are what get the attention.

1. Kerry needs to use this to point out |
|
the failures of this administration - they don't have anything to run on so they are resorting to this...he should note their failures, tell his plan for improvement and then say at every speech if you want to compare service records - BRING IT ON - that was great earlier this week and he needs to keep it up.

3. On the 1971 testimony ad |
|
This argument has gone on in America for decades. Should we turn off our right to know what is going on, our rights to question our government, because these actions might help our enemies? The Fascists alway make this case and demand that we blindly support them.
I don't think we should allow fear of our enemies to destroy fundamentals of our democracy.
Kerry received information about atrocities and reported them to authorities. Kerry didn't let fear of our enemies stop him.
This question came up again in Iraq. A soldier knew of atrocities at Abu Graib prison. Should he have remained silent? Our enemies in Iraq benefited by having an issue to use against the Americans. One man was beheaded in response to the prison abuse revelations. I'd like to see George Bush asked if the public should have been informed of what was going on at Abu Graib. Will Bush say that reports of atrocities by American soldiers should have been covered up?
The question of democracy versus uniting against our enemies came up before the Iraq war. The right wing called people who questioned the war traitors and friends of Saddam. Even the media now admits that they should have stood up to this. It turns out many of the questions asked before the war were the right questions, especially ones about the WMD. The right wing is now defending itself by pointing at the people who supported them and saying they are just as guilty because the supporters went along. "Its your fault too because you didn't stop us." I've asked right wingers how they can avoid responsibility when they did everything they could to force people to remain silent. Behind the words of their answers is the attitude "If you were too afraid to stand up to us, you have no right to question us now. You deserve to be controlled."
George Bush has done the same thing to Kerry by making Kerry's IWR vote the issue. Bush is really saying that because you supported me, you have no right to complain now.
The swift boat ad is a step toward Fascism. It repeats the argument that those who question our government are traitors. Kerry should stand up to the the issue the ad raises. He should ask Bush about what should have happened at Abu Graib. He should ask Bush is those who supported him are no longer allowed to question him.

5. When RWers tell me lies, I make up bigger ones to counter them |
|
It always freaks them out. For example:
"Kerry probably shot himself in the leg just to get a Purple Heart."
"Yeah, but that's not as bad as Bush asking for the UN flag to be put on official White House stationary."
"WHAT?!?!?!?!?!"
I have a million replies like that. If I can tell that it is a diehard RW idiot, I don't even bother replying with the truth.
