Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 03:47 PM by ErinBerin84
something like "He's been cutting off his dick when it comes to Black Churchs?"

God, who doesn't hate Obama this week?

update: "Jesse Jackson calls his own remarks crude
Ok, lectures that Obama has been giving to Black Churches are too broad...
he's calling in..."This was part of a broader conversation about racial disparity.
Obama sounds like he's talking down to black people?
"I said something crude...something private..."
He called Obama's campaign and immediately sent in a statement in order to quell damage.

OK, WHAT DID HE SAY?
Wolf Blitzer: "It's so crude! We can't even say what you said right now on air!"

ok, has anyone found a link yet? I feel like it's going to show up on Fox or something. Wolf Blitzer is all about the drama right now! I hope the media doesn't try to conflate this into some controversy. Wolf got so excited. I know that this is not big news or anything, Jesse Jackson has criticized Obama before, it was just so funny the way it was brought up.

ok, it's on the CNN ticker http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
Of course, it was a Fox microphone. Again, I don't think this should be a big story, but it was just funny because they said the "crude" version first on air, and then were really coy about referencing it again in the story.

14. It is pissing me the fuck off!!
Why don't we just cancel the election and tell McCain, "Here. You can have the presidency because we like to wail and gnash our teeth. We don't like winning. We want to act like victims for 8 more fucking years until there is no America left."

9. sorry, I just heard it on CNN. I'll try to find a link.
It was just such a random switch that I wasn't expecting. On CNN, they were like "The left is furious with Obama over the FISA vote...AND, Jesse Jackson had some words for him too!"

I was like "Oh god, what now?"

It sounds like he was really sorry, and didn't know his microphone was on. I don't really care, it just struck me as "Ok, someone else is mad at Obama!", so I made a thread. Probably too much of a knee jerk reaction, but I just thought it was funny.

There are only 2 things you might cut off, negatively speaking. And only one of them can't be said on TV.

1. Cut off your nose to spite your face
2. Cut off your dick to . . . I don't know why

being criticized by Jesse Jackson isn't necessarily a bad thing. He's just pissed because he thinks Obama has been "lecturing" blacks too much (per CNN).

22. True. I have no real opinion on the Reverend, and if I did it would be more positive than negative,
but he's always been a convenient target for some, whether due to his outspoken progressive views, or due to simple racism on the part of his critics. As with the Wright situation, this gives Obama a chance to present himself as a moderate, reasonable alternative to the "crazy preacher" types. Cynical, yes, and it does play into the prejudices and general sheeplike nature of many Americans, but in politics you gotta do what you gotta do.

12. Jackson has been critical of him before.
Back in 06 when he claimed that Christians shouldn't check their beliefs at the door when entering public service, Jackson scolded him (and Clinton, who also made conciliatory comments to the religious right).

Not to mention, Bill Clinton's supposed racist attack on Obama brought a response from Obama that wasn't flattering to Jackson. Obama's take was that Clinton was insulting him by comparing him to Jesse Jackson. That can't sit well with Jackson.

That's strange he would say that. I mean, I remember Jesse's own presidential campaigns and his work with Dr. King. So much of it was based on values from being a minister, "In the Bible, Jesus tells us..." was very much a part of his own campaign.

36. He was attacking the mingling of religion and government, mostly.
Wish I could find you the quote. It wasn't a vicious slam. He didn't threaten or imply castration that time. He just said basically that they were wrong to try to compromise Democratic principles to pick up a few evangelical votes.

... was part of a Holocaust-like program by Jewish Hollywood moguls.

That was back in 1995, the year Whoopi Goldberg hosted.

I haven't taken Jackson seriously since then.
