We just had someone on local television telling us to not do that, because when we come back home and turn the thermostat down, the A/C runs a long time to cool everything back down.
It's my understanding you can turn the A/C up a few degrees while you're gone, but it shouldn't be enough that the A/C runs forever when you return home and lower the setting to normal.
Figures * wouldn't have any concept of energy conservation. I'll bet the White House is kept chilly so * doesn't have sweat stains on his shirts.

Even when we go on vacation we never shut the a/c OFF. He knows absolutely nothing about energy conservation.
