McCain Camp's New Attack: Obama Is The One Who's The Same As Bush
"I know you are but what am I?" Maybe Rachel Maddow hit a bit too close to home on the McSame thing, and they're responding (in a very juvenile way)?
Maddow last night:

McCain Camp's New Attack: Obama Is The One Who's The Same As Bush
By Eric Kleefeld - July 16, 2008, 2:10PM

The McCain campaign is taking their effort to distance their candidate from the unpopular President Bush to a whole new level: McCain's advisers are now openly attacking Bush on Iraq -- and not only that, they're also saying that Barack Obama is the one who is like Bush on the war!

On a conference call just now with reporters, McCain foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann compared Barack Obama's insistence on a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq to Bush's insistence that we were winning even as things went badly for years.

"I think the American people have had enough of inflexibility and stubbornness in national security policy," Scheunemann said. When asked later by the Huffington Post's Sam Stein whether the campaign was disparaging President Bush, Scheunemann dug in: "We cannot afford to replace one administration that refused for too long to acknowledge failure in Iraq with a candidate that refuses to acknowledge success in Iraq."

Forget "McSame." The candidate who would really continue Bush's policies is "BushBama."

1. McBush is just flailing about, spewing, hoping something sticks to the wall.
Funny stuff, really.

2. McLame's risk here, is pushing the "success" phrase too much, and then having something go terribly
wrong over there again. It's much too unstable to be shouting "success" while we're still on the ground, targets for terror attacks.

5. I'm loving this new Repuke strategy..
of trying to paint Obama as Pres. Chucklenut's third term. That ought to get those 23% that still approve of Bush sufficiently demoralized and pissed off just in time for election day.

8. Don't think they'll have success in calling him a "flip flopper" AND "stubborn" at the same time...
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 03:51 PM by 4themind
And frankly I think this "flip flopping" in McCain's campaign strategies on a weekly basis may be a good reflection of how Obama is evading the McCain team's attempts to "put him in a box".

12. damn. I was hoping this wasn't going to happen.
Obama's strongest point was McCain=Bush (which he is). Now that McCain has started openly attacking Bush he may fool quite a few people. :(

I wanted them to remain allies.

13. McCain can't hide his voting record. If he really is stupid
enough to try and paint Obama as "more like Bush" than he is,I hope Obama laughs in his face on national television.
