your body ages but emotionally and mentally you are forever young.

On days when I can barely walk, I still want to run.

Edited to add that I am 62.

Seriously, I think that we had the same person style our hair. I called them Mamie Eisenhower bangs..my big sister cut mine the same exact way as she fell on the floor hysterically laughing.

I guess it was a sign of the time. My hair was worn in long banana curls (stretched out my hair reached my waist, but only hit my sholders in the curls with no bangs) until my mother cut them off and gave me a shorter verson of this look. My bangs were even shorter in the beginning, looking about a little over an inch long. I thought it looked good at the time but I was not brave enough to post that earlier photo. ;)

27. Boomers rule, period. :) But I'm glad there are younger DUers as well.
I remember (vaguely, lol) a number of these polls here over the years, and there were always more DUers over 40 than under. This one seems even more slanted toward older DUers, though -- unless the kids are just away enjoying the weekend and will check in later. :)

8. We've had these polls before, and they vanish quickly
It would be interesting if DU kept track of such information and made it available. Of course, responses would be voluntary and so the data might not be representative. Still, there'd be more answers than there are to posted polls like this one.

It's easy. I read and do research. In other words, I am reasonably intelligent I guess. Just venting a bit. Sorry.

39. Rocks came first, as the primordial lava cooled
Dirt came latter, after rock had weathered into fine particles. Or even latter, as dirt is distinguished by the presence of organic materials that would not have existed (on land, at least) for the first three billion years or so.

49. In all the age polls I've seen over the years, the 40-60 groups have always been the largest.
Some polls go by 1/2 decades, in which case the 35-55 groups skew largest.

Been that way for seven years that I've seen.

70. The older DUers have outnumbered the younger in the polls I remember too, but this is the first poll
I can recall where more than 70% of those responding were over 40.

Here's a poll from May 2004:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x1145427

That showed almost equal numbers over 40 and under 40, which showed more young DUers than usual for these polls, but possibly the fact that was done in the Lounge had something to do with more young members responding.

Okay, just found (googling this) another poll from November 2004, in GD, and that poll's results had 71% of the respondents over 35:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2725459

Another one from GD, but this is from April of this year

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3169791

and it shows only 14% of DUers who responded were 35 or under.

LOL.

One reply there called DU "a liberal AARP."

Good point that it probably makes a difference which forum such a poll is posted in. In all the years I've been on DU, I could probably count the times I've posted in the Lounge on one hand. It's just never been my thing, old curmudgeon that I am. :)

Thanks for going to the trouble of looking up those older polls.

80. Damn
I'm only eighteen! But it's true, really- Obama really sparked my interest in politics.
Although everything I've read & heard has had me thinking that most of Obama's support was from younger voters, so I'm glad to see that a lot of older voters support him as well. You guys rock :)
I proudly display an Obama pin on my Myspace. Lolll.
