"McSame, your surge in Iraq has drained our military of vital forces needed for a very deteriorating situation in Afghanistan. Your lack of strategic world view makes you unfit to be the commander in chimp's successor."

1. Because he's not home yet...
He, theoretically, did not want to make his trip political.

It's his staff's responsibility, in his absence, to cover for him...they're doing a more that adequate job. With a lot of help from Keith Olbermann et al.

Isn't it clear that McCain should be in a nursing home!
