I was taking a walk in a residential area of Charleston, W.Va., today when I spotted a McCain sign planted in someone's lawn. I'm afraid it might be lonely, however, because the yards on either side of it boasted Obama signs, one of which appeared to be a Republican residence, based on the a couple of GOP state election signs I spotted next to the Obama sign.

All in all, I saw about 10 Obama signs. One house that had no political signs in its yard had a huge sign in the front window that simply said "OUT of Iraq."

Just thought I'd share that little anecdote, as it made me smile.

1. I have yet to see one here in Morgantown.
And what with this being the most liberal city in WV, I doubt that I will!

2. Yeah, Monongalia County was Obama's best showing during the primary, wasn't it?

:toast: to the 'eers.

What amuses me is that Obama hasn't even opened his W.Va. headquarters yet, and there are plenty of signs in the area. Grampy McSame has an office right here in Charleston, but apparently only one person could be bothered with walking over there to get a sign.

3. If there is one state that Obama has absolutely no prayer at winning, it's this one.
I am a huge believer in Dean's 50-state strategy, but I would personally amend that to "48-state strategy" (and I don't mean that we should exclude Alaska and Hawaii). Obama's dollars could be better spent ANYWHERE other than WV in this election cycle.

The Democratic Party has no chance of winning a Presidential election in either Kentucky or West Virginia. Too many racist white rednecks, and too few African-Americans (at least here in WV). I've always found it odd that WV votes for Democrats consistently, but they're almost always Republicans in -D clothing.

Oh, and though Obama had a good showing here in Mon county, I do believe that his best showing was in one of the panhandles, I think in whichever county that Martinsburg is located in, or if not, probably Ohio county in the Northern Panhandle.

4. I haven't met my new neighbors who moved in 2 or 3 mos ago yet because.....

..We're in a rural section of town, up in the hills above the city and everyone's yard here is an acre or more and not exactly right next to each other.

I was really close friends with the people who moved out, but knew NOTHING about the new people who moved in.

When I was out walking my dogs last night around 1:00 a.m.... right after I logged off of this site (you know.. when I should've been sleeping but was on here instead ).. I noticed that they have pounded a sign in their front yard that reads:

So I'm thinking that sometime this week, I'm going to bring them a plate of cookies with a "Welcome to the neighborhood" note on them! ~~~

Last time I placed an order through Obama's campaign for a t-shirt and some bumper stickers, they added in a whole bunch of those little Obama sticker circles (approx 3"). So I'll probably put one of those on the plastic wrap that I seal the cookies up in.

6. I have seen one McCain sign
as I drive on my commute. Beyond the growing number of For Sale signs and some for the state primary coming up. There really are not too many either candidate.
