Yad Vashem Moments from Past and Present ***PICS***
Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 10:19 AM by ReverendDeuce
First, let's begin with our glorious First Lady, Laura "Pickles" Bush, whose tireless championship of literacy throughout the world is beyond reproach. She reminds us with her colorful use of spelling in her very special message to history.

Laura "Pickles" Bush - May 22, 2005

"Each life is precious. Each memory calls us to action to honor those lost. We committ (sic) ourselves to reject hatered (sic) and to teach tolerance and live in peace."

Next, let's move on to number 43... Our man, our President, George W. Bush. As you can see, he is a man of very few words and even fewer syllables. Nevertheless, he is still President and history will certainly and ultimately see the wisdom of his scrawl.

George "Dubya" Bush - January 11, 2008

"God Bless Israel"

Now we move on to Barack Obama's words. I could have spent time writing up an amusing prelude to his remarks, but I honestly didn't like even mocking the Republican memes in jest. So, that being said, here are his words, again, to compare and contrast with the above.

Barack Obama - July 23, 2008

"I am grateful to you Yad Vashem and all of those responsible for this remarkable institution. At a time of great peril and promise, war and strife, we are blessed to have such a powerful reminder of man's potential for great evil but also our capacity to rise from tragedy and remake our world. Let our children come here and know this history so they can add their voices to proclaim never again. And may we remember those who perished, not only as victims but also as individuals, who hoped and loved and dreamed like us and who have become symbols of the human spirit."

20. She was a teacher before she became a librarian
She became a teacher in 68 after graduating with an undergrad degree. She didn't get her masters in library sciences until 1973, after which time, she became a librarian.

18. Yes. She taught in both Dallas and Houston
The following is the last paragraph of her official White House bio.:

Laura Bush was born on November 4, 1946, in Midland, Texas, to Harold and Jenna Welch. Inspired by her second grade teacher, she earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 1968. She taught in public schools in Dallas and Houston. In 1973, she earned a master of library science degree from the University of Texas and worked as a public school librarian. In 1977, she met and married George Walker Bush. They are the parents of twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, who are named for their grandmothers.

and, according to the wiki, she began teaching shortly after she graduated in 1968 ("She graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1968 with a Bachelor's degree in education, and soon took a job as a second grade school teacher." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Bush). Presumably she was employed as a teacher for several years before getting her masters and becoming a librarian.

6. Weren't the Bush family and Hitler business partners?
Kind of hard to explain THAT in a Yad Vesham guestbook entry. So I guess the standard "God Bless Israel" was the safe choice.

Either that or he is an unthinking, unfeeling ass.

Or both.

22. Wow perfect way to sum it up - Bush doesn't "know" empathy as he's a psychopath
Hence the wooden generic response lol. Yad Vashem has to be one of the most depressing places on the planet. If I remember right the guestbook is near the "hall of dead children" (whatever it's actually called) where there is a small light in a dark room for all the children who were murdered. It's like the stars in the sky...
