I'm supposed to believe that voters are looking to the GOP for energy solutions? |
|
I've seen people pushing this meme here, that Obama is weak on this and McCain is gaining ground on energy issues. WTF? Please, I know people are stupid, but do they actually think that a continuance of GOP energy policy is going to pull us out of the abyss?
Just because McCain blasts the airwaves claiming that he's got a plan doesn't mean that he does. Wait until the debates when he has to explain it and all he's got is "we've got to drill for more oil". This is clearly not a viable plan.
Obama will fucking DESTROY him on energy policy folks, don't be fooled.

2. It depends on how it is discussed |
|
Family budgets are being stretched and strained this year. There are a lot of folks hurting now because of the squeeze on gas prices, food prices and the downturn in the job market. People are also scared because winter is coming and the cost of energy is going to hurt like it's never hurt before this.
We follow politics obsessively at DU. Most Americans do not. A lot of Americans want to see some relief in these horrible price jumps that are killing family budgets. (It does feel like everything went wrong all at once, doesn't it?)
McCain and Republicans are suggesting a line that sounds logical: drill for more oil and that will help with the current squeeze. Just because I don't agree with this doesn't mean it won't work, btw. It makes sense to a lot of people and we need to consider that when formulating the counter arguments.

3. T. Boone Pickens is a problem though.. |
|
he's blasting the airwaves with the opposite message, which also makes sense.
I agree though, the Dems needs to craft a very easy to understand counter-message explaining why this is not a solution to our problems. It's quite possible, I hope to see it soon.

4. The debates will make the differences between these two abundantly clear. |
|
There will be no sound editing or gaffe-fixing mid-debate for Johnny Mac--if he screws up it will be on record in front of millions, and no amount of media editing will fix it.
Barack will expose McCain as the fraud he really is.
