1. He said that a while ago too |
|
I don't know why this past week or so everybody has been so giddy about Richardson. Of course, Dick Cheney supposedly said the same thing too.

Who would want to join the ranks of Mondale, Ferraro, Bentsen, Gore and Lieberman? The office of VP is a bad joke no matter what you may do with it. I mean, Gore did about as much with the office as any honest man could do.

6. He actually said that. |
|
He said 'I promised the people of New Mexico--- people I love--- that I would complete my term as Governor". :)

5. Does what people say even matter? |
|
It seems that there's a real disconnect between words and final actions. I think there are a lot of good VP choices, and they shouldn't be selected, by the way, on too crude of political-demographic calculations.

8. This is what we've been trying to tell y'all. |

He's committed himself to serving at least one full term as governor. Says he loves the job, loves New Mexico, and he ain't goin anywhere.
And then he'll run to be the country's first Hispanic president--not the first Hispanic veep.

He would be a strong addition to the ticket, no matter who the nominee is. He would bring a cinch to NM (500 vote margin last time), and appeal to the large segments of Hispanic voters in California, Colorado, and Florida as well.
Richardson has one of the strongest resumes going: Congressman, UN Ambassador, cabinet Secretary, Governor. And he is a very intelligent guy with broad appeal.
Don't give up on him yet. Nobody ever says they would accept the vice presidency - at least, nobody who might be offered it!
