they already had one long time serving guy with seniority who could bring home the pork. so they looked to the other senate seat to try different people.
maybe things will start to change with helms being gone now.

that Erskine Bowles has a chance? With a big voter turnout going for Kerry, maybe things will turn around. At least, that is my fervent hope.

is running a MUCH better campaign this time. He seems like he actually wants to win.
Maybe I missed it 'cause I'm in the mountains, but does it seem to anyone that Bowles last time, and Faircloth in '98, just didn't bother to campaign?
