The Ignorance is astounding. Talking with locals in a blue county, I just cringe.

I live in Western MA. It is the area of the state that keeps the state true blue. Without us, the Republican wealth on the east side of the state could swing this state red.

That is why it was so disturbing to talk to a group of people at my local breakfast joint.

'Obama's a Muslim'.

'I just don't like either candidate. No one talks about the issues'.

'Obama doesn't have any experience and I don't trust him'.

'We need to drill for oil, I am a McCain man'.

'He won't even salute the flag'.

Now, I don't believe McCain will win, but I think there is enough of this B.S. ignorance to keep the election close enough for another rigged election. We can't ignore this - we simply have to brace ourselves and try with all our might to un-brainwash these people.

And, the prejudice is a very real thing too. My mother-in-law, my Aunt & Uncle...all democrats in my family who might sit out the election...or maybe even privately vote McCain. We have a problem with one of the most active voting groups in our own party. Fear & prejudice live.

There are a significant number of people I know who know NOTHING about McCain, and it is so dangerous. McCain is Bush with a clean slate.

I am not writing this to be negative. I am just putting out a warning, so that we can all work to help people understand the truth and we must all join together to talk sense to our friends, family, and neighbors.

And, it ain't gonna be easy.

3. Some voters are so stupid....
but luckily, it won't matter because most Massachusetts voters know what's best. Obama is up there by 15-20 percent.

By the way debbierlus, I don't know if anyone else has thought of this, but if Romney was the VP for McCain, would Massachusetts come into play? I understand he's very popular over there.

10. Romney isn't that popular here....he wouldn't have won a second term

As governor....

He isn't from MA, and people who live here tend to view him as using the state for his Presidential ambitions.

He was basically an absentee governor. And, it was only one term. His disapproval rating was something like 60% when he left office.

4. We wear our Obama shirts everywhere.
Last Friday we were at a fair in the sticks of Ohio, toothless ally you might say. We had one man say that he liked our shirts. When I asked him if he would like a button his answer...'No'. But that is OK with me, when the curtain is pulled this guy will clock in for Obama. Being visible gives these voters the idea that they aren't alone out there. Peace, Kim

6. One thought about McCain...
If the non ignorant voters, the Obama voters, keep saying things like "McCain has a clean slate" who can blame the ignorant for thinking that? McCain is far from having a clean slate, Keating Five and vocal opposition to the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday begin the story and his craven support of Bush policies finish it.
All I'm saying is that McCain is Bush with a clear record of being corrupt and venal, and a long history of saying one thing to one group and the opposite to another. His son just walked away from what seems to be another banking scandal, they run in the McCain family, banking scandals.

9. I know he doesn't have a clean slate and I don't say that to McCain supporters

My point was that McCain is the same as Bush but people don't know it.

So, he has a clean slate, in the eyes of the ignorant. It is a third Bush term without the negative approval ratings. People think McCain is different.

I always point out what a freak and moron this guy is....

7. How do you deal with these people? Do you talk to them and explain why they are wrong?
I have found that most reasonable people will at least let you make your case...

8. I try - but it is a uphill battle because you have to debunk so much crap

You don't start out even.

You start out with people who believe the right wing talking points. So, you have to debunk these ridiculous claims to even
BEGIN to talk about any real issues.

I always try. I point out that the same people who sold them Bush are doing the same with McCain. After seven and a half years of hell, isn't that enough to demonstrate they can't be trusted. I bring up Iran. I tell them that drilling is a huge lie, and do they really want to give our land to big oil.

It is exhausting.

And, you aren't just up against the brain-washing, you are up against the fact that you are confronting them with things they don't
want to believe. I think the whole reason the repukes have been so successful is they have the advantage of telling people what they
want to hear. Denial is easier for many people then truth (that is until the truth slaps them in the face so hard they can no longer
pretend....)...

Ignorance and fear are the real enemies.
