The GOP is counting on this being like any other election year. When it comes down to getting out there and voting on Nov. 4, they are convinced young people won't show up.
Ron Reagan Jr., on CNN this morning, laughed and said "young people will want to vote, but they'll go out on a binge election eve and stay home election day with a hangover." He believes they aren't even worth discussion because they aren't serious - all talk and no action.
I want those words to be shoved down Reagan's throat come November 5th. When the final results are tabulated and Obama has won the presidency, I want to be told young people made the difference. I want the pundits to shake their heads in disbelief.
I admit I have my doubts as well and worry, but I am encouraged by the enthusiasm among young people for Obama's campaign. It gives me hope that this year will be different.
So to all the 18-30 year olds out there - pay attention to how the idiots of the GOP are mocking you. They think you're silly; that you won't come out and support your guy.
Are you ready to prove them wrong?
