Is Chris Matthews voting for Kerry? |
|
He seems genuinely angered by the Swift Boat Liars group and seems to be attacking Bush and defending Kerry quite a bit over the last few months. I don't watch his show regularly, so I may be out of the loop here, but maybe someone else here knows whats going on with Tweety.

1. Yes, I have thought so since the end of the convention. |
|
at that time, his whole attitude changed to much more sympathetic to our side. He was a real attack dog on Thurlow and Malkin, among others.

2. His split personalites are fighting over that very thing right now |
|
His two arms will be fighting with each other in the voting booth.
As a person who spends a lot of time looking at policy issues and meeting with politicians, he can't be uninformed.
He's either a whore who sold out for the big bucks, or has a severe dementia problem.

3. Tonight should be interesting. He was against the Iraq War - he didn't |
|
state it overtly all the time but you could tell and I believe he has essentially come out and said it afterward.
He had a real problem with Clinton and Gore. He has even said now that he got to caught up in the "personality" question during the 2000 election. He worked in government, he should not have been so stupid in 2000 to base his vote on who he would want to have a beer with.

4. I've had that impression since the Democratic debates... |
|
He seemed more interested in hearing the various candidates' platforms, rather than looking for faults.

5. Yeah, wait until the Repub convention, then we'll see... |
|
If he has on any democratic attack dogs, if he criticizes the speeches and the tone and points out the lies then maybe he's changed.
He's been back and forth too much for any of us to count on him being on our side.

7. Only because he has teenage sons. If his sons were not of |
|
draft age he would vote for bush again. Apparently Chris still believes you should vote for the guy you would want to have a beer or barbecue with. :eyes;

8. Matthews voted for Bush in 2000. |
|
Matthews said he voted for Bush in 2000 in an interview. If I had to guess, I'd say Matthews will be voting for Kerry in 2004. I think Matthews is a true moderate. He obviously has distaste for the Clintons and I think that, combined with how Bush portrayed himself in 2000 (compassionate conservative, I'll give you your money back, blah blah blah) caused Matthews to vote for Bush in 2000.
But Bush as president is completely different from Bush as candidate in 2000. He said he was against nation building and now we have these neocons taking over every country they can. He said he'd give tax cuts but not at the expense of the economy and now he's stubbornly sticking to his horrible tax cut plans even though the deficit is the highest in history. He campaigned as a moderate and is an extremist.
I think Bush let down a lot of people who voted for him in 2000 and didn't get the man they thought they were getting.
I think Matthews is probably changing his mind from his 2000 vote and I think he's not the only one.

9. I think he called it a correction vote |
|
After he voted for Clinton in '96.
For months I've noticed Matthews has turned against Bush and his apologists. In fact, I mentioned that here and have been amazed there continue to be so many anti-Matthews posts, apparently blinded by his 2000-2002 emphasis and not current form.
