How many more days are the smear boat liars going to dominate the news?
It is unbelievable to me that Kerry's service is still being questioned (now by Bob Dole).

Take the gloves off, for Christ's sake! Let's talk about cocaine, let's talk about AWOL, let's talk about the 2004 election.

AND LET'S TALK ABOUT BUSH'S RECORD.

This has been going on since the Democratic convention ended, and it looks like it will continue until the Republican convention.

The media has completely sacrificed credibility.

1. Hey, we gotta take the "high road" . We are too lofty to come down
from Mt. Olympus and actually confront anyone about anything, well, ugly or embarrassing. The American people would NEVER believe those nasty Swift boat vets.

2. As long as Vietnam is an issue in this campaign the
smear groups will be in the limelight.

7. Depends.
What do you mean by "as long as Vietnam is an issue in this campaign"?

I'm not sure it became an "issue" in this election until the smear boaters turned up. I think it's entirely legitimate for Kerry to have talked about his service, which was honorable and very important in his life. He's also talked about his opposition to the war, which has been in the public record for over 30 years.

But let's not forget that Republicans tried to use Vietnam as an issue when Clinton ran, too. It doesn't matter to them what our candidates did or didn't do; they're going to make it (and anything else they think of) an "issue."

10. I am sure that these swiftvet characters would have shown up
no matter what, just like they seem to do in every election but I don't think they would have the prominent spot in the media that they hold today if Vietnam was not such a central part of the campaign. While I am thankful to those that served in Vietnam I don't think that "police action" should be part of the debate here in 2004.

3. I agree. this is disgusting.

A cowardly Vietnam War avoider whose daddy got him into the "champagne" unit of the Air Nat'l Guard has the audacity to question the war record of a guy who not only was IN Vietnam, but actually volunteered to go there when he didn't have to.

Kerry and his team need to go NUCLEAR. Bush has been allowed to make the rules here and he has decided to play dirty, just like he did against McCain in 2000. Kerry & Co. need to bring up AWOL, Cocaine, DUI's, paying for an abortion for an underaged ex-girlfriend. EVERY scandal or potential scandal needs to be dug up and publicized. It's apparent by now that we can't bring a knife to a gunfight. We need to bring a bazooka, and hit this sniveling, smirking little prick back hard. Like NO ONE has ever hit him before in his entire, pathetic life.

5. 527 deadline
I believe 527s must stop activity 60 prior to the election, so another or so to go.

6. up till the convention. then they bring out the big guns.
kerry is 'crazy', 'emotional', a 'bush hater'.

look for:
1. carefully edited kerry speeches from the early 70's. already appearing, but more, and more damning.
2. rumors regarding his divorce.
3. kennedy linking.
4. something worse i have no clue about.

8. I think we should all write
to all the networks and tell them we are sick to death of hearing this boring crap about swiftboats. Tell them we want to hear more about the issues. Probably a lot of you out there already do this but if more of us did it I believe our media would look a little different than it does now. Conservatives bitch and moan to the media all the time. They need to hear from us much more often. Maybe someone like Move On should start a drive to tell the networks we've had enough smear coverage...get on to the issues!!

12. Watched Paula Zhan show yesterday...

And she asked the audience if they were sick of negative ads (ALL raised hands - full of undecideds from Ohio).

When the Tad Devine said: "We haven't run any" the audience laughed-loud.

The Democratic party HASN'T run any negative ads! How can people not know this? He tried to explain they were from other groups - didn't come off well.

I think the negative ads - fuel those that will vote * anyway. Turn off undecideds.

I like them BTW. Feels like were fighting back. Not usre if they'll work though.

13. even though
the whole thing has been discredited and the liars exposed, they still keep having them on shows and the news all the time. You can't avoid them. The reason being that it doesn't matter WHAT they are saying, it only matters that the public are seeing them and that in itself gives them credibility. If you look up and see that creep o'neill and aren't paying attention, what would you think?
