MSNBC Joe Watkins, "...Obama trying to start a race war."

This idiot republican mouthpiece, smiling after the hecklers tried to disrupt Obama's speech said that Obama should be as respectful to McCain as he was to the hecklers instead of trying to start a 'race war.'

WTF??????

Did anyone else hear this?? MSNBC needs to hear about this! How dare he use this incendiary tone - A RACE WAR?!

Wtf is wrong with these people???

18. I'm not into e-mailing stations with everything I disagree with...
But for this I will make an exception. That guy has been getting increasingly histrionic and that comment was truly beyond the pale.

It's time for him to go.

7. He's just repeating today's rethug party meme. They can't run on
issues, so they're all about slamming Obama as a person and making up any trumped up scenario they can. Throw it on the wall, see if it will stick.
I think we should all get used to the idea that this is 'the' rethug campaign tactic 08. Sad but true.

15. Yeah but explicitley saying that Obama is trying to start a race war...

....is more than the usual veiled racist crap that goes on. It's in a different class entirely. If Watkins gets a pass on this, it's a real shame.

21. I'll wager you go back and look at what Buchanan has said
in the past 12 months and your anger will increase 10-fold. They know it, we've complained-he's still there. They just flat-out don't care. Anything to stir controversy and keep it 'interesting'.

9. Honestly, he really needs to be taken off the air...
He is nothing more than a shill, but for some reason (:eyes:) he has privileged status with MSNBC so he's allowed to spout his Republican talking-points unbalanced by a Dem.

And, speaking of unbalanced, he clearly is. When they do put him up against a Dem, he becomes hysterical and ends up shouting over the other person. Utterly unprofessional.

10. Actually, Obama wants to steer clear of a race war
They don't want to risk Obama being the angry "black" candidate. It's McCain who wants a race war. Its his only chance.

13. Exactly Right
Obama has worked hard to keep race out of this. Even his latest forays into the "Presidents on the currency" is really an attempt to make McCain/Bush III STOP using race. ...And Obama's right. Much of this recent smearing came after a week of CNN "Race in America" shit. The media loves it. Time to turn the tables and say that when media discusses race they are helping McCain inject race into a campaign thereby, a)unfairly picking McCain's side and B)unintentionally helping race-bait. Someone pointed to point B last night, and they were correct.

They pulled the race card out WAYY too early to do themselves any good.

22. If the media had any sense of responsibility to the public, they would NOT
take the GOP bait, and would not dwell on the topic--but it's inflammatory, which is why the GOP wants it out there. And inflammatory is good for ratings, as you say.
