Hillary
I now believe she should be the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee.

I think she will campaign her heart out.

People say we need an attack dog as VP--Hillary will do it.

I think she would be very effective in the VP debate

As for her loyalty to Obama, if she wants to win in 2016 she needs an Obama presidency to be successful and I believe she would work to make sure it is.

That said, I will wholeheartedly support anybody Obama picks for VP.

2. what are her creds for being an attack dog?
I've asked this a couple times here and no one answers me.

The only time she has been an attack dog that I have seen, is when she was going after obama.

Please show me that she fought with such fervor against a Republican or against a bad bill for the american people, etc.

4. Go back to her NY races.
If anything, she IS an attacker. She helps in FL too.

5. I mean, other than when she was fighting for herself.
(I don't mean this in a snarky way, I swear. I wouldn't object to her as VP, but I'm still not convinced that it's the way to go.)

16. an attack dog attacks to protect someone else.
she and bill have fought very hard for their own careers and perks, but I have not really seen that kind of passionate fight done for someone else's interests and would like to have some examples so I can look at this Hillary the 'attack dog' with better information.

14. I'd like to know this too.
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 03:59 PM by ErinBerin84
Its probably also bc the Obama campaign has not used her as a surrogate yet so I can't imagine how she'll be , but especially since they had a long primary battle with charges against each other, it would be a challenge to BOTH of them to justify and deflect their earlier criticisms. Sure, former rivals have teamed up before, but it is going to be especially challenging since the media was so obsessed with both Clinton and Obama. Christ, they couldn't even do the Unity event without the networks whipping out the body language experts...they would bring up EVERY single charge against each other, and the McCain campaign IS using a lot of the tactics that the Clinton campaign formerly had (skies will open, etc). I'd like to know how she and Obama would deflect on that, before I assume that she would make a good "attack dog" for someone else.

My post is directed at the previous poster and previous remark.

I think it still pretty shitty how if anyone DARES to mention "HER" name they get smacked down.

Nothing has fucking changed in here.

7. A female attack dog would be a b****, why even begin such an allusion
without taking it two steps down the road?

Hillary is not a dog, shouldn't be compared to a dog, and shouldn't be the semiotic of a class of being's referred to as dogs.

Thank-you, that is all.

8. Knock it off. I've referred in other posts to Dean as an attack dog and others
who I liked as VP. If you want to draw the conclusion that she is being referred to as a bitch that's in your own head.

Why don't you set aside your feelings and realize that using "dog" references is not an analogy that is appropriate?

27. Calling someone an "attack dog" is a far cry from calling someone a "bitch"
Hell, her husband was often called the "Big Dog" (or "Big Dawg" if you want to be more precise). Not every single use of the word "dog" is meant in a derogatory fashion.

What I am responding to is just the sort of thing the facilitator was talking about when the facilitator discussed semiotics with unintended double meanings.

12. I believe that she should be, too, and I wonder if the Kaine meme
was dangling bait to get the reaction - which was pretty swift - his abortion stance irked a lot of people who weren't afraid to say so. I could be wrong, but I think her chances now are stronger now than they were two weeks ago. I sincerely hope she IS the nominee, because I want another chance to vote for her.

28. Please Remember
that there seemed to be a lot of people on DU who actually understood what his real position was instead of the incorrect things being said about him. All of these DU posters seemed very supportive of Kaine, including me. By the way, I love Hillary, supported her. I don't think that she will be the VP.

I do not like that he is personally opposed to abortion. I don't have to like it, and I also am tired of being told I don't understand. I DO understand fully.

13. Whatever will win the election, baby
That's all that matters at this point. We have to win to set this country right, and there isn't 4 years to waste. If she is the key to victory, then let primary bygones be bygones. To close the sale that she's the key (and obviously, she brings a lot of supporters and other assets), how would Obama-Clinton deal with the videos that will circulate with her talking about the CIC test and 3AM? If they can make that problem go away, then just make sure to win.

17. This keeps on coming up...
It always draws fire, and it seems to result more often than not in the thread being locked after a copious rehashing of primaries baloney and the forum being hosed down with a fair amount of vitriol.

It is clear that there is neither consensus, nor even civil discourse on this topic. We would do well to let it lie. Senator Obama will pick his VP (be it Hillary or anyone else) based on his own calculations, which probably don't involve endless trips to DU to see which way the wind blows in GD-P.

18. I'll support whomever Obama chooses.
But I will say, after this week, I definitely hope it's someone who can serve as our attack dog. We need to bring the hammer down on this guys (to mix metaphors). Hillary could do it, I have no doubt, so could Biden. I'm not sure who else.
