Obama better grow a pair or it will be a repeat of KERRY 2004!!! |

Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 09:31 PM by Vote2008
I love the guy but he had better put asshole McCain in his place and quick or he will come across as a wimp. I am registering voters every weekend in August. Obama needs to do his part by calling out McCain for what he is.

Obama has been responding and will go more negative if McCain keeps it up. I think Obama's letting McCain overplay his hand a bit since there has been nothing as noteworthy as the Swift Boat Liars.

30. Agreed. Registration of voters, identifying our voters, and GOTV!! |
|
I don't look at this race differently than I did those of Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, or Mondale. Once we have a nominee, I'm focused only on seeing them win. I don't personally care what they say to get elected, as long as they get elected. If the only thing I can depend on is that they will appoint Democrats to the Supreme Court, it would be worth it to me. My choice is the party's nominee, or the GOP's, and that's always an easy choice.
We win by registering voters, identifying our voters, and getting them to the polls on election day.
The day after the election is when we start figuring out how to keep the entire party moving in the direction we feel is best. First win, then decide how far left we can move the party and country.

a weak old white man to prove he's ten times the Leader Mccain could ever dream of being.
Obama doesn't need to call out McCain- he needs to let McCain reveal his true 'character'- for all the world to see.
If Obama has to become someone like McCain to win, then winning is meaningless.

28. But, but, but, they are all ORIGINAL concerns, you see! Concern that Obama needs to "grow a pair" is |
|
so very different than "I'm a longtime Obama supporter who's worn out two pairs of Nikes registering voters, BUT..." and "If Obama doesn't start kicking McSame's ass live on TV RIGHT FUCKING NOW we're doomed, doomed I say!"
We can't put a damper on their oh-so-legitimate and utterly original anxiety, now can we?!
Note for the wittically challenged readers of this thread, this post is 100% pure, unadulterated :sarcasm:

27. That's just what McCain wants |
|
McCain's campaign thinks one move ahead.
Make crazy shit up for as long as it takes --> finally get response --> jump on the response
Here's McCain's ideal scenario.
McCain: "Obama is a doo-doohead" Press: "Is Obama a doo-doohead? Watch McCain's ad and decide for yourself" Obama: "I am not a doo-doohead, I use Selsun Blue Shampoo. You're the doo-doo head, doo-doohead" McCain: "Obama has dandruff and he's being mean to me" Press: "Why does Obama try to blame his dandruff on the War Hero McCain?"
Here's a better scenario: McCain: "Obama is a doo-doohead" Press: "Is Obama a doo-doohead? Watch McCain's ad and decide for yourself" Obama: "Here's a way out of the Iraq situation." McCain: "Obama is a poo-poohead." Press: "McCain says Obama is a poo-poohead." Obama: "Here's a way out of the housing crisis." McCain: "Obama is a poopyface." Press: "McCain has another attack ad."
If Obama just keeps not responding, all McCain can do is start to look pathetic.
Such a shame. McCain could have run an honorable campaign like he said. He would very likely have lost, but the country would have been strengthened by the debate, McCain would have been able to spend the rest of his career as an elder statesman respected by both parties. Instead, he is just making a doo-doohead of himself.

40. You actually get it... These ads are designed solely to try to get a reaction from Obama. |
|
They aren't intended to get McCain new voters, they're trying to amplify the "Obama is thin-skinned" and the "Obama is egotistical" and "Obama plays the race card" narratives. The Obama team came very close to falling into that trap, and now the race card is in the media narrative. I suspect that the Obama camp hasn't yet realized the true purpose of these ads. McCain doesn't mind looking temporarily vindictive, if he can get Obama to react in an even more destructive way.

42. Obama HAS BEEN RESPONDING regularly to the dumb smears. |
|
His campaign responds to a lot of the ads more officially. But I like the way Obama personally responds with casual asides or statements at campaign rallies, mostly expressing disappointment that all McCan't has are attack ads rather than positive discussion about the issues that matter to voters.
